Digital camera Review: DISAPPOINTING!!!!

The 9-inch digital frame is very attractive in appearance. The PowerPoint-like animation is quite nice as well. However, I am quite disappointed with the onboard rechargeable battery. I recently purchased two frames with the understanding that the battery would last about 8 hours. I needed them for a 3-day show that lasted about 7 hours each day. This model was chosen to avoid the need to run a power cable to them, due to location. The batteries lasted a maximum of about 1½ hours. It was both cumbersome and very disappointing to make this type of investment only to be frustrated with a product that did not measure up to its specifications.Digital camera Review: Died after 5 weeks

Worked great for 5 weeks then the screen went black. Tried a reset, but could not transfer pictures to the frame, so then I tried a compact flash card. It worked for 10 minutes then the pictures went away and the frame started rapid cycling (uncommanded) through some of the menu screens. Then, it died again, black screen, won't turn on or off, the power button lights but that's all. Called Philips, they were very nice and they are sending me a new one but it looks like, they have some problems or a bad batch of units. I paid extra for the Philips name, hope they come through with a good one.
UPDATE: The replacement unit, which was remanufactured here in the US has been great. It's almost a year old now. No problems at all.

This photo frame is an excellent one. It's design actually resembles a real photo unlike the majority of them that have a border that's 3" thick.
The features are very nice, with an easily removable face plate (magnetic), timers for auto-on and auto-off (3 of them), a cool group of transition effects between each photo (optional), and the ability to position it wide or tall as the format (it has a motion sensor that re-positions the images to match the orientation).
This is in fact a 9" model - I couldn't find it on Philips website, but it does exist. It's a nice size - almost perfectly matched to a normal photograph.
The only minor complaint is that the screen - though very nice quality - does not appear to look like a real photograph. I don't know if that was a faulty assumption to expect it to look just like a photo or not, but the LCD in this frame does not match a photo. It does have great colors, a bright picture (I like it on medium so it blends in with the room and looks more like a real photo), and a pretty wide viewing angle.
It's easy to drop pictures into it, but I recommend getting an SD card to put photos onto - it makes the process even easier.
A definite 5/5 when compared with the other digital photo frames I've seen.

I gave 2 at CHRISTMAS and they are great. The first to my mother. I set it up, loaded in pictures of my family and she was thrilled. Don't load the software included! Wait and see if you can just drag and drop. Our newer computer can do this without any confusing software. My mother doesn't use her computer with it at all. She simply sticks the memory card from her camera in the side of the frame and edits/deletes with the buttons on the back of the frame. Nice and easy! Best picture quality I've seen. Excluding the horrible unneeded software included...5 full stars for the frame itself.
