Digital camera Review: Shipped used one / Proudct reasonable Summary: 3 Stars
Amazon carried this product so I had ordered. When I got this prodcut, there were scratches on the side and battery was almost fully recharged. This obviously tells me that the product had been opened and used. I purchased this new and yet they sent a used one. My confidence in amazon.com is slowly starting to deteriorate. This is the second time I've been disappointed...
As for the proudct, the price is reasonable for the features it offers. Video quality is poor but what do you expect out of portable DVD player. Other DVD player within this price range have poor video quality as well. You'll need to spend over $300 to get a good quality video. As for DivX format, it wasn't able to play any .avi formats from SD card. I was hoping it would but didn't expect it to. It said on the proudct that it will only play DivX VOD which you have to download from DivX site. I think this product will do if you intend to use it while traveling. My main purpose was to use it in my minivan. I bought the bag that will mount unit but it was just a pain getting in on and off so I had to find other creative ways to mount it. In the end, I will probably use it on long travels only, for day to day use is too tidious.
Digital camera Review: Short pro and con Summary: 4 Stars
Pro : Cheap for 9" screen, all region-able good for traveling to other country. Use as spare TV monitor at home, can read memory cards to display photos
Con : On/Off and Volume not controllable by remote, short battery life, lousy speakers (AM/FM radio quality), shining black plastic surface scratches easily, thick.
No comment/not used : I-pod capability
Digital camera Review: Simply awesome with one draw back - the stand Summary: 4 Stars
I went back and forth on this because of the reviews about the picture quality and build. I am glad I bought it. My son is 3 and burned through the last "video player" option, a V55 that had the iPod dock. All of my video is iPod formatted so a "video dock" was a necessity. I could not be happier with this Philips except for one draw back. It has a "flip out" stand on the back, this is useless to me as the primary viewing is done in the car. I was hoping for some sort of attachment point, but there was not one. Short story, went to Lowe's, bought some "velcro" fastners with sticky back and a piece of bungee. I then made a loop to hang around the headrest and the player attaches with the "velcro" and is perfect. Since it is "velcro", I can detach and take with. As for viewing, I can see it at about 145deg, the speakers are just right (he can hear and I can still have the radio on). I will look for another one of these next year when they release a new model and buy one for back-up instead of spending 6 months trying to search out a replacement.
Digital camera Review: Solid system Summary: 4 Stars
This is a solid system for watching DVDs and iPod videos. Haven't tried the SD card yet, but the quality for DVDs and the iPod is excellent.
The only problem I had was using the controls on the system itself for fast forwarding iPod video. They were pretty clunky. However, if you use the remote control, there is no issue. All in all, it is well worth the money for people who enjoy videos on the go.
