Digital camera reviews of Philips- DVP5990 - Multi Region DVD Player 1080P - upscalingDigital camera Review: NOT Multi-region! Summary: 1 Stars
This will NOT play PAL DVDs. I bought it specifically to do that and it will NOT play PAL discs. All you get is a region error code. It makes me wonder if Amazon actually checks the info it puts up about products.
Digital camera Review: Nice product Summary: 4 Stars
I have had this player for a short time but it seems to work very well.
Digital camera Review: Not Multi Region Summary: 1 Stars
This player is not multi-region. It will not play my British DVDS. when I phoned Philips they said that it is not lawful to sell multi-region DVD players in the USA
Digital camera Review: Not an all-region DVD player Summary: 3 Stars
The product on Amazon was advertised as an "all region" DVD player. It is not. There are six regions. The back of the unit I received shows that it plays region 1 DVDs only (ref. page 22 of the manual which explains how to determine which regions the product will play - there is a sticker on the back of the player.) I inserted a DVD from Poland (region 2), and the player displayed the error message "wrong region" and would not play it. That being said, it will play foreign DVDs marked "all". I decided to keep the player because most DVDs I have and buy are either region 1 or "all", and the quality of this player is very good. The sound and picture are excellent, and it is easy to use. If you are looking for a DVD player that will play regions 1-6 and those marked "all", this product is not going to deliver.
Digital camera Review: Not happy with this DVD Player! Summary: 1 Stars
I do not watch alot of dvds so this unit got very minimal use. I worked fine the first two or three times I used it then came "no disk" every time i put in any DVD yet the disc cleaner would work just fine in the unit. I somehow believed that this DVD player had a one year warranty, well when I called Phillips to get help I was informed it was only 90 days. I watched a total of about 7 movies on the player before it stopped working completely because the 90 days had just passed. Since Phillips would not give me any advice I have resorted to taking it a apart to see if I could get it to work at least a few more times, no such luck! I will not buy another phillips product and I wish I would have researched my purchase rather than buy on impulse.
