Upon installation I immediately got reception,I had to turn it a bit around the room but thats what we all do with portable antennas right.
Digital camera Review: For Great TV Reception... Summary: 5 Stars
I placed this antenna on a JVC tv with a built-in digital tuner. I now get 64 of 69 local channels! I am truly amazed at the stability of the pictures, i.e., no digital freeze or interruptions. It's truly remarkable how a few bucks can enhance ones' viewing options and enjoyment. I highly recommend this product.
Digital camera Review: Good Antenna Summary: 4 Stars
I purchased a powered Terk TV5 antenna before buying the nonpowerd Philips PHDTV1. Both work equally well. They both do a good job of pulling in the stations. The Philips PHDTV1 will save you a little money since it's not always plugged in and sucking electricity. I bought the antenna for reception only and it does a solid job.
You may have to get up and manually turn the antenna to point it in different directions to get the best reception. Unfortunately, it's not a swivel base. The reason for the adjustment is that HD TV broadcasts on a tighter and narrower beam. A signal that's coming in at a right angle to this antenna might not get picked up. Still, I would recommend this antenna because it works well and is inexpensive. The design is kind of art deco-ish.
I have two small drawback with this antenna which is why I gave it a 4 star and not a 5 star rating. The plug in on the back of the antenna seems flimsy and easy to break and the wire "fins" are easily bent, so be careful and gentle when setting it up.
Digital camera Review: Good Antenna, Finally! Summary: 4 Stars
The Philips Silver Sensor is bringing in the digital channels better than any other I've tried. I live in an area of a city that has a hard time receiving signals, too much interference, but this antenna does the trick.
Digital camera Review: Good Product, better price Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this as a replacement for my grandmother's rabbit-ears antenna, as she just stepped up to the digital tier and has a nice 32" LCD Television (yet no cable!)
The quality of the signal is incredibly better than standard rabbit-ears/FM loop amplified antennas by comparison. For starters, this unit doesn't need to be plugged in to an AC outlet, which is a definite plus.
It worked with all channels that we could at least pick up on the old antenna, and did so without snow in the picture, no black and white channels, and increased the signal strength of the ATSC broadcasts in our area.
I recommend placing this antenna as high as you can in the room, and if you know the direction of your station, align it. This also increases signal strength, but this is NOT a directional antenna. All stations from the area are crisp and clear, just the ones we aimed it at were a tiny bit better.
