Digital camera reviews of Philips SE7452B Enhanced High DefVoice Digital Dual Cordless Phone Answer MachineDigital camera Review: Buy the SE655 Instead Summary: 1 Stars
A month ago I bought an SE655 set for my father then two weeks ago I bought this SE745 set for myself, thinking that the soft/firmware would be similar. Oh no it's not. This model has two major problems:
- A phonebook is stored in each individual handset and although reading the instructions suggests that you can transfer selected items from any handset to any other, it does not work like that. Philips have confirmed that you cannot select an item from the sending handset. Instead, the entire phonebook of that handset is sent and to transfer any entry you must go to the receiving handset(s) and for each entry select "Overwrite", "Yes" or "No". Are they joking! Think of how much effort that would take with four handsets, each with 150+ entries. (I have four handsets as I made the mistake of buying additional handsets at the same time as this twin pack.)
- The second problem is that the flashing call alert light must be cancelled on each individual handset. So, after every call I must walk around the house and cancel the flashing light on all other handsets. Just rediculous.
This is my third set of Philips phones. The others are good, but not this model. I strongly recommend to anyone thinking of buying this SE745 that they buy the SE655 series instead. It stores the phonebook in the base station for access by all handsets and when cancelling the call alert light, the action is transmitted to all handsets. Yes the SE745 does have a taller screen but since the text size is the same and the resolution is the same, I see no disadvantage. The SE655 has all of the same good features and the handset speakerphones are a little louder.
Please, since I now have experience of both models, take my advice and buy the SE655 series instead. Even though I have just bought them, these SE745s are so anoying that intend to throw them away and buy the SE6554B/37 four pack for myself.
Digital camera Review: Buyer Beware - Units Will Not Last Summary: 1 Stars
Purchased the SE7452B Base Station (w additional handset) and I also bought a 3rd separate SE7450 handset back in Nov 2007. Over the course of 2 years all three handsets failed for same reason at one point in time. 1st handset failed after about 6 months, 2nd failed after about 18 months and third after 24 months. Each time the problem was the same. The handset was no longer registered to the base unit and it was impossible to unregister or re-register no matter what was tried (new batteries, reset, ...). Worked with Philips customer service to try and restore registration but was not possible. Each time Philips sent me a new handset. So far none of the new handsets have failed but there is definitely a serial defect with this model. Whether this is related to a manufacturing or component defect that has now been corrected is unknown. Philips would not comment on the serial nature of my defects. BUYER BEWARE!
Digital camera Review: Cheap & Chintzy Summary: 1 Stars
I knew within 1 minute of taking this phone out of the box that I would be sending it back. Forget all the claims of how great it sounds. You should be compelled to use it when you hold it in your hand. Not so for us. It feels awful, is much smaller than it looks in the picture and is uncomfortable to hold against your ear. Not after an extende period of time, but right away. It feels light and cheap and the buttons are awful. The screen is not nearly as clear as the simulated image in the product picture suggests. These things alone were enough to dissuade me from spending any extended time talking on, using or setting up the phone. I boxed it up and mailed it back to Amazon the next day.
Digital camera Review: Cool looking works decect. Summary: 2 Stars
I got these phones about 1 1/2yrs ago i ended up giving them away. They looked good had a lot of great features but the one thing i couldnt get around was i could pull a handset off the base after a 12hr chrg session and within 45mins it would be beeping at me that it was dying and by 50mins of stright talking it was dead. Worst phones ive ever had as far as battery life goes. So if you dont hold long conversations and/or dont care about these phones then they are for you. But if at any point and time would like or think you may get into a 1hr+ converstaion then get something else.
Digital camera Review: Customer Service? Summary: 2 Stars
Ordered Dual Phone Bundle on 10-01 received 10-07. All functions worked ok on the system but on 10-09 the power adapter for the remote handset failed.(no 9vdc output) A check online for Philips Customer Service contact (difficult to find) and an email was sent requesting how to obtain another power adapter for the failed one. The reply simply stated that the entire system had to be sent back for warranty claims. (This is what it states in the Warranty Statement supplied with the package.) I requested instead could the failed part(not a repairable item) be sent to a Service Center and a replacement sent back. I was informed that they had no Service Centers and the only service they could offer was to send the system back for warranty. I contacted Amazon.Com with this information and asked if there was a better(sensible) solution and was informed that a complete new system had been shipped (already) to replace the one with the failed power adapter. So much for sensible, new system arrived in 2 days. The day before it arrived the Base handset apparently failed(could not get it out of 'Searching'mode and it would not function)and we used the remote handset in its place. The old system with its failed parts was returned to Amazon.com and the replacement system has been working satisfactory for at least 2 weeks. The only things I have noticed about the performance is the volume of the base station( answer machine message mode)is not loud enough to hear across the room. Level adjustment increases playback but doesn't help when message is being left. Also on the handset the enhanced voice function does not seem to make much difference from normal? Overall it has a lot of features. The review is for the lack of customer service provided by Philips.
