Digital camera Review: Does not support phone company provided voicemail well

I recently received the Philips SE7452B/37 and had a problem with how the phone handles the telephone company provided voicemail feature. Voicemail provided by a phone company sends an FSK packet (specifically an MWI - message waiting indicator) every 30 minutes or after a message is left in order to signal if there is a new message. This is the same system used for sending Caller ID information between the 1st and 2nd ring when a call is received. Receipt of this packet causes these phones (all handsets) to simultaneously chime every 30 minutes. The chime is the same sound made when the handsets are put in their charging cradle or base. Turning the ringer off and using the 'do not disturb' feature did not prevent the chime sound from occuring every 30 minutes. The phones do not chime every 30 minutes when they are disconnected from the phone line, and the chimes always occur at the exact same times (23 and 53 minutes after the hour) regardless of when the system is initially plugged in.
I provided this information to Philips customer care, which suggested I replace the unit.
Like the other reviewers I was otherwise happy with the phone sound quality and operation. It would be nice if it had more ring tone options and wallpapers, and if it didn't make noise every 30 minutes I would keep it.

Wow, I can't believe how poorly designed this phone is. Buttons that are difficult to push, delayed responses to many actions, ridiculously complex and counter-intuitive menus, and the list goes on. It shouldn't be necessary to open the user manual - much less read several pages of it! -- to record a personalized outgoing message on your answering machine. But with this phone it is. I purchased a Dual Handset unit and everything seemed to work fine for about 3 months. I really liked the quality of the XHD sound, ease of using the cid & phonebook functions, the speakerphone & the telephone answering unit. Then suddenly, the secondary handset unit lost ability to register with the base and the holder/charger base failed to charge the batteries. I reached a Customer Service Representative at the 800 number without difficuly who walked me through a diagnostic sequence. He agreed the secondary unit was not performing properly but both handsets/base should be returned to Customer Service for replacement under the warranty. Since the main handset/base unit was working fine, I asked if they could ship out a replacement unit with a credit card guarantee so I would have an opportunity to transfer my phonebook to the new unit. I had spent a lot of time putting it in plus added more numbers from my caller list. I was told that they could only send me a replacement if I sent back the phone first. I elected to return the problem handset with an explanatory letter and keep the working phone. I had given up hearing anything back from Customer Service, but nearly 2 months later I received a complete new replacement unit from Philips. I was able to transfer my Phone book to the new handsets very quickly and everything seems to be working again. I have suggested to their Customer Service that they offer customers the option to have a replacement unit sent out before returning a defective unit under warranty.

I've had these phones since may 2008. The base has been replaced three times since i got them. philips customer service is horrible, when you call them with a problem with your phone all they can say is we will "escalate it up" and then they hang up on you. poor reception, awful battery life. they are pretty phones but other then that they are junk. These phones are a nightmare!!!
