Digital camera reviews of Philips SE7452B Enhanced High DefVoice Digital Dual Cordless Phone Answer Machine

Digital camera Review: Good phone, with minor gripes...
Summary: 4 Stars

I've had this unit for a couple of months now, and find it to be well made with excellent sound quality. It looks good and works well as a basic phone.

I've had numerous cordless phones, including 5.8gHz models from Uniden and Panasonic, and I can honestly say that none of these vendors have got it all right - I submit that this Philips DECT phone "sucks less" than competing models :-).

Pros:

- Sound quality
- Speaker phone sound quality
- Default clock display (when in the cradle)
- Cordless range from base
- Design aesthetic

Cons:

- Squishy keypad (one must deliberately push the center of each key)
- Unable to configure rules for call-back from CID list (when to dial a "1", area code, etc).
- Euro-centric design of wall-mount bracket - not the standard vertical mounting holes - had to rig my own...
- Unable to use the feature of copying phone book entries from a GSM SIM card (Error message was "Read Failure"). Philips support is clueless on the topic.
- Red blinking LED on each handset whenever there were unanswered calls. The handset in my bedroom is rarely answered, so it blinks continuously to tell me that calls were missed. To make the blinking light stop, one must manually scroll through each CID entry, or erase the entire CID list... Phone designers: THERE ARE ALWAYS MISSED CALLS, AND WE CAN VIEW THE CID HISTORY IF WE CARE TO. DITCH THE BLINKING LIGHT!!!
- Chimes a bit too much. Whenever one replaces the handset in the cradle, it chimes! My wife's asleep, I'm trying to turn off the dern blinking red LED, and the thing chimes unnecessarily when I replace it in its cradle!

So, with all these "Cons", why 4 out of 5 stars? Like I said, it works well as a basic phone, and sucks less than the others I have bought...

Digital camera Review: Great sound Horrid User interface
Summary: 2 Stars

Phillips has created a cordless phone that offers really great sound quality and only sacrifices functionality and ease of use to do so. Here are a few examples of Philip's failure to engineer a desirable phone.
-If you have call waiting, you have to use a two button combination to answer the incoming call. Neither my wife nor I have ever successfully used this feature and have missed several important calls as a result. As a bonus feature the phone is set up by default so that in order for both handsets to be on a single call, the call must be put on hold and transferred to the second handset and then the first handset can join the call. Fine for an office. Stewed dirt for home. You can change this setting, but it requires paying close attention to the manual.
-Any incoming call event makes a red indicator light flash on all handsets. This continues until each individual handset is reset by a three button process.
-The phone keeps in memory caller ID numbers without the "1" prefix meaning that the only way to have the phone dial that number is to save it into memory by entering a name and then editing it to contain the prefix "1". Or more laughably set the phone up to automatically dial a "1" on all outgoing calls thereby rendering the phone unusable to the uninitiated. Again, perhaps fine for an office setting.
-The six available rings for this phone are pretty uninspired as are the wallpaper choices. Seems pretty silly to pay good money for a color display to show you pictures of either flowers or tennis balls.
The phone does feel solid and sound great, so if you want to pay top dollar and undergo several weeks of telephonic retraining perhaps this is the phone for you.
-Oh yeah, the answering machine is limited to only 30 minutes including the outgoing message. Seems a bit stingy.

Digital camera Review: Horrible
Summary: 1 Stars

Phone does not work good at all, functionality is faulty, and built in features work sometimes! I should have stuck to Vtech!

Digital camera Review: I expected more
Summary: 1 Stars

For a Phillips phone at the price was purchased, I recommend to anyone to buy any other brand of telephones. Any other cheap could beat this beauty.

Digital camera Review: I would not recomend this phone
Summary: 1 Stars

I purchased this base and 2 handsets to replace my Uniden 900MHz phones that I've used for 4 years that are getting a little ratty. I wish I had read these reviews first and would have run away from this phone.

Pros for me
1-Decent sound quality
2-Speaker phone quality
3-Each handset can be named so you know where they belong.
4-Doesn't mess up my wireless router.

Cons
1-BATTERY LIFE is NOWHERE near what they state. My Uniden phones both last weeks longer then these. After a few months of limited use, both phones only have about 8 - 10 minutes of talk time, and less then 4hrs worth of standby. The response from Philips service is "batteries are not covered by our warranty" even though the very first claim on the box is "Up to 100% greater battery life (12 hours talk time)." This is an utter fabrication from my experience with this product, and their Customer Service offered no Customer Service.
2-Annoying flashing red light unless you manually pick up handset and manually page through the caller ID to see who called.
3-Unable to pick up another handset if the low battery tone sounds. If you try to transfer to the other phone, it will DIE before you finish. Buy this phone if you want to "accidently" hang up on your mother-in law.
4-Tone delay when dialing, about 1/2 second after you push the button the tone sounds.
5-NO INDICATOR of PHONE IN USE.
6-Beeps for everything.
7-No range. it has nowhere near the range my 900MHz phones have, and this is supposed to be newer technology. I can't even go outside with this phone without disrupting or losing the call.
