Digital camera reviews of Pioneer DV-393-S Progressive Scan DVD Player with Div-XDigital camera Review: HELP PLEASE !!! Great DVD player, but ... Summary: 4 Stars... it's not a multi-region player. Well, at least mine isn't. I've tried the much touted "insert region2 DVD, turn off the player, wait 30 secs, push STAND BY and FF simultanously" approach, but nothing. The player still spits out my region2 DVD in disgust, saying it's the wrong region.
Now what could I possibly be doing wrong? Did I simply fall for a few fake reviews and order the wrong device (mine is the DV-393-S model) ?
Any help in this matter would be much appreciated.
Kindly,
Ulf
Digital camera Review: 12 months of satisfaction...then KAPUT!! Summary: 1 StarsThis DVD player came as a part of Pioneer home theater system. I bought this system that included this DVD player, a receiver and 5 speakes and subwoof. Purchased this item in November 2006 and have used it without any worries until today 12/02/07 i was watching a DVD and the the DVD player shut off. I could not get the DVD player to power back on. Called Pioneer customer service and they are not open on the weekend.
I went down to the basement and brought up my generic "Cyber-Home" DVD player I bought in 2002 and hooked it up. It works!!
Pioneer is a name brand people are supposed to trust and the DVD player breaking down in one year is deeply disappointing.
Digital camera Review: Yes, it reads Region 2 DVDs! Summary: 5 StarsThanks for the hints, everyone! I had to perform the factory reset (see earlier reviews), but once done this unit plays Region 1 and 2 DVDs perfectly. This is a great unit for folks addicted to British DVDs - recommended!
Digital camera Review: Yes, it is affordable, multiregional play! Summary: 5 Stars We bought one of these players and loved it from the start, so much that we bought a second for another TV. At first hook-up it appeared that this second player did not play region 2 DVDs- they came out either rolling, or in black and white.
After reading the reviews, I found that other buyers had this problem too. I was told to load the region 2 DVD, turn the player off, then after 30 seconds press standby and FF simultaneously. This restored all the factory settings and it now plays both my region 1 and region 2 flawlessly. I didn't have to do this with my first player, only with the second, and then only once.
So despite a brief scare, this has lived up to its claims-- affordable multregion play. I recommend it highly!
Digital camera Review: Plays Almost Everything Summary: 5 StarsIt's been able to play virtually everything I've thrown at it, just as advertised (Divx, avi, vcd, dvd +r/-r etc). Good player for the price.
