Digital camera reviews of Plantronics DSP-400 Digitally-Enhanced USB Foldable Stereo Headset and SoftwareDigital camera Review: Bang for the buck? Amazing. Summary: 5 Stars
I use this with Dragon Naturally Speaking. This is my 2nd unit. The 1st started showing wear after 6 years. No deep bass for games. Get the 500 model instead.
Works with Mac and Windows. I am told it works with Linux as well.
The down side is the long cord can get tangled. The mike wind screen falls off with almost no effort.
And the sound quality of the mike is great. Being USB based, the mike input isn't reduced by the electrical storm inside the PC case, which messes with the best sound cards on mike input. Most high end sound cards focus on output, not input.
IF you need high quality audio input, AND you want a traveling headset, look no further.
One more little down side. They have made some internal changes, so Windows thinks my OLD DSP-400 is different than my NEW DSP-400. I solved that by putting the old one on the Mac and leaving it there (after using silicon glue to keep it together).
At the price, just get a 2nd if you are going to travel with the headset. They take a solid beating (for a while). I have not been able to beat the DSP-400 no matter how much I have looked and tried other units.

Digital camera Review: Best On The Market Summary: 5 Stars
Best on the market, just as good as Leo Laporte says it is.
Digital camera Review: Beware ! Summary: 2 Stars
1. This is NOT a noise cancelling headset : it has just a noise cancelling microphone so this only works in filtering your voice (I can't really see the point...), NOT the surrounding environment (like airplane buzz or aircon in the office). 2. It only has a USB plug, no hifi-jack so forget using it with an MP3 or CD player. 3. The CD-Rom with the Plantronics software was defective. 4. Plantronics customer's support is difficult to access and poor. The FAQ's on their site are uselesss (try to figure out if the DSP 400 has a Noise Cancelling function, good luck ...) If you want a Noise Cancelling, try the Maxell NoiseBuster (probably the best deal 40$) or the Koss QuietZone 2000 (better but is it worth 140$ vs. the Maxell ?). Taipan92
Digital camera Review: Bulky, but good Summary: 4 Stars
I travel a fair amount overseas on business, and I use Skype to call back to the US; home mostly, but also other places. I go through computer headsets like Kleenex. Between the airlines breaking them in my luggage, and the TSA folks mangling them, I've probably trashed 2 or 3 in the past year. I tend to buy cheapies, if they're going to get wrecked anyway. The quality is usually awful. This unit has been a pleasant surprise.
This unit is bulky. It doesn't fold down that small, and it has a largish "brick" inline. It does work very well, though, and it seems to pick up and send out less "noise" than I've experienced in the past with Skype.
I've picked up a padded tool pouch for it, and it stores pretty neatly in there. It has a long cord, which can be a snarl but also lets one wander over to make coffee while on the phone in a hotel room.
All in all, I'm very happy with this unit. It isn't small, though.
Digital camera Review: Buzzing noise on receiving end wouldn't go away Summary: 2 Stars
I have several Plantronics devices that I'm really pleased with. That is why I chose the DSP-400 for use with Skype, expecting the same level of quality. I was wrong. While the physical design and sturdiness is up to standard, every Skype call I made with this headset created a really annoying buzzing noise on the receiving end. I could hear just fine, but every caller I spoke to complained about this buzzing noise. Since the buzzing only occurred with this headset, I had to return it to Amazon.
