Digital camera reviews of Plantronics DSP-400 Digitally-Enhanced USB Foldable Stereo Headset and Software

Digital camera Review: Really good microphone and ear phone
Summary: 5 Stars

the Plantronics DSP 400 USA foldable Stero Headset and Software is a great high quality microphone that gives very low base noise when using it to record. It is foldable so travels well. I also found the seller to be very prompt in shipping the microphone.

Digital camera Review: Excellent USB Headset for Windows & Mac
Summary: 5 Stars

Works perfectely on my MacBook Pro in OSX as well as when I boot into Windows Vista. Excellent for online gaming. Clear sound. Others hear me very well. In Windows you may have to go to audio devices and select the headset as default so that it becomes activated. Of course, in OSX, no fiddling is required, the system automatically switches to the headset for input and output when you plug it in.

Very comfortable on the ears, very light. I would highly recommend this headset.

Digital camera Review: MAC USERS RUNNING OSX 10.4.10: FOLLOW THESE STEPS TO MAKE THE IN-LINE VOLUME CONTROL WORK
Summary: 3 Stars

MAC users running OSX 10.4.10 be advised that the in line volume control and keyboard volume keys DO NOT adjust headset volume UNLESS you perform the following steps (provided by plantronics tech support):

It seems that this is a new "quirk" with the 10.4.10 OS that we have not encountered prior.
When upgrading from 10.4.9 to 10.4.10 there are a few things that the Mac OS is recognizing differently with regards to USB audio devices. We had not yet encountered this before, but I tested it on my Mac running 10.4.10 and got the same result.

With a little fiddling around behind the scenes in the OS we were able to resolve the issue. Below are the steps that we went through.

Open Finder
Select Macintosh HD
Type ' Audio MIDI Setup ' into the search field
Double click on the ' Audio MIDI Setup ' application
In the top right you will see 'Default Output' and 'System Output'
Select 'Plantronics Headset' for both categories.
(we did this while iTunes was running)
At this point if we changed both settings to Built In Audio the in line volume control on the headset cord adjusted the volume coming out of the speakers. By then changing both setttings back to Plantronics Headset the in line volume control now adjusted the volume in the headphones.

the procedure Plantronics has provided resolves the in-line volume issue, with a couple of notes:

After following the steps outlined above, you must leave the "audio MIDI setup" app. running all the time in order for the headset to be automatically selected again as the input / output device if it is unplugged from your computer and then plugged back in.
If you quit the "audio MIDI setup" app while you are using the headset, the headset continues to work (including the in-line volume control), but if you unplug and then replug in the headset, you need to relaunch the app and follow the steps above again.

**Please also note Plantronics DOES NOT have a Mac compatible version of the PerSono software**

Digital camera Review: amazing, wasn't expecting the quality
Summary: 4 Stars

ok I had read the reviews, and heard the complaints about the headset falling off, have no idea what they are talking about. I found this absolutely comfortable to wear, i can wear this puppy for 8hrs with no problem. bought this for voip. works great. now the shock came from firing up WinAmp and tuning into high quality mp3 stream.. wow, the bass and treble are clear as a bell without EQing it. I can't believe how good this sounds for hi-fi music. i've never had a usb headset, the mute button is nice, when you mute it glows bright red. you won't embarrass yourself on conference calls. the volume control real nice feel and works great. im amazed at how good this thing is.. since i only bought it for voip and didn't really have much use for it for music. yes it
has a clunky box towards the end of the cable, but it kinda anchors itself to the floor or wherever... not really that big of an issue, I love this headset and i can wear it all day.

Digital camera Review: great product
Summary: 4 Stars

Another quality product from Plantronics. Works great for music and internet communication. Only thing I don't like about them is they have a tendency to try to slide off if you move your head much.
