Digital camera reviews of Plantronics Foldable USB Stereo Headset (Optimized for Laptop Use) (Audio 470 USB)Digital camera Review: Awesome!! Summary: 5 StarsI this everyday with my Skyupe. I LOVE IT. Windows 7 and zero problems. Very clear and sturdy. I even record video tutorials with it. Well recommend.
Digital camera Review: Nice, compact and great voice recognition Summary: 5 StarsI use it for Dragon Naturally speaking and Teamspeak 3 during online game play.
For DNS it was a vast improvement over the stock mic that came with the software.
For TS3, the sound quality is wonderful and so far everyone on the other end can hear me, crisp and clear.
I have only the DNS mic to compare it to so you may want to keep reading the reviews.
Digital camera Review: OK product - Plantronics should be able to do better! Summary: 3 StarsThis is my second Plantronics USB adapter plus headset with microphone.
The first had one earpiece and nice adjustable boom.
Unfortunately the quality of sound in the earpiece was poor and the microphone boom picked up electrical noise (60Hz hum)
Plantronics replaced the headset, the new one was immune to electrical noise, but the boom was no longer adjustable.
This USB adapter and headset has much better audio. The boom is nicely adjustable.
The catch is that the headphone band is very lightweight, the foam earpads are slippery so the unit slides forward with any head movement. As it does so, the microphone moves out of position.
Quite honestly, I expect better from a company with the reputation of Plantronics.
Digital camera Review: Great sound and comfortable Summary: 4 StarsI tried a few differed headphones before sticking with these. They are really lightweight (translation: comfortable). Previous attempts (including a different plantronics model) were uncomfortable because (1) they squeezed my ears or (2) they used a wrap-around feature that pressed in the back of my head if I wanted to lie (lay?) down.
The sound quality is surprisingly good. Watched a recorded HD program on my computer yesterday and was blown away by the sense of immersive sound.
I plugged the headphones in using the USB adapter - connected easily (if you have problems with the headphones switching off the speakers, shut the program that you're using (e.g. web-browser, WMC) down and restart after plugging in the headphones).
I wanted to extend the length of the headphone cord, so I simply plugged in a USB extension cord... worked perfectly.
I haven't tried the microphone for voice recognition yet, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it's as good as the headphones.
Seems to be a great price for what you get. The headphone plastic looks a little flimsy - the sort of plastic that looks like it could get snapped easily, so if you plan to fold these up and shove them in and out of a bag whilst traveling, you might want to be aware of that potential weakness.
Digital camera Review: Excellent for Dragon Naturally Speaking Summary: 5 StarsI bought this headphone specifically to use with Dragon Naturally Speaking 10, which works like a charm with it.
I did have one problem, which was my own fault. On the headset, there's a little silver microphone on the on/off switch. So that's where I set it, and spent a day and a half of total frustration because Dragon could not understand me. My grandson finally took a look and pointed out that the little silver microphone has a tiny line through it, about the size of a hair. I'd had it turned off the entire time, even though Dragon said the sound quality was good. The "on" side of the switch is blank, which seems backwards to me. Anyway, now it works great and I love it.
