Digital camera reviews of Plantronics Foldable USB Stereo Headset (Optimized for Laptop Use) (Audio 470 USB)

Digital camera Review: Good sound but flimsy
Summary: 4 Stars

The sound is great, but the headphones feel extremely flimsy. The over-the-head band has three joints that simply do not hold their position and rotate all the time.

Digital camera Review: Good sound, bad mic
Summary: 2 Stars

The headphones are good but the microphone was way too soft, you have to raise your voice to be heard.

Digital camera Review: Good value but quality lacking
Summary: 4 Stars

Using the supplied USB dongle, the headset gets decent enough sound. I mainly use it for playing games with friends so I can't judge the sound quality based on music, but it accomplishes what I intended it to. The Supplied USB dongle worked out of the box with no drivers in both OS X and Windows XP which is always nice.

The only gripes I have with this model is that the cord is just way too long and I often get it tangled up in the wheels of my chair. The other issues is that the build quality feels very fragile and cheap. I personally wish they used a stronger plastic for the frame as I feel the slightest mistake will cause them to crack.

Digital camera Review: Good voice quality, while it worked; physically, a disaster
Summary: 2 Stars

Perhaps because of the DSP chip in the dongle, this worked perfectly with Dragon. Unfortunately, the cheap flimsy plastic used for the headband snapped fairly quickly just below the pivot for folding. Attempts to repair it failed utterly, so I used it for a while with the broken plastic digging into the right side of my head and the right earpiece dangling. Eventually, I gave up and just cut the wire to the dangling earpiece.

Now, after a few months of use, suddenly the microphone stopped working. The dongle has also gotten somewhat loose. Also, like some of the other reviewers,I never understood why I needed 10 feet of cord, and even after I tied part of it up it was a nuisance.

I finally gave up on it and decided to go with a wireless headset. My first try was the [[B001SEQN3U:Plantronics Audio 995 Wireless Stereo Headset]]; it was not a success -- see my review.

I'm dictating this with a [[B001W1VDHU:Travelite HS-1000W USB Wireless Headset]]that arrived today, but it's already far superior.

Digital camera Review: Good!
Summary: 4 Stars

Works decently, all around great sound and voice. It works great on Skype and other things like that. I also like the USB, the sound quality is twice as good.

Other than that, the joints on the top seem to like pinching your hair. That's the only bad thing I've noticed about them.
