Digital camera reviews of Plantronics UPCALISTO Bluetooth HeadsetDigital camera Review: A Little Disappointing for the Money Summary: 3 Stars
I work in sales from my home so I'm on the phone quite a bit. I was using a GE cordless phone with a corded headset for a number of years and that worked well but, was limited. I decided that it was time to take the plunge and get some new technology.
With a price tag over $200 I was expecting a lot more from Plantronics. The sound quality is good but, there is constant crackling and pops in the background, just loud enough to be distracting. I thought this might be my WiFi system but when that is turned off the subtle background noise is still there.
Plantronics could have done a much better job on the display. I've seen better ones on toys. With the ability to store 200 names and phone numbers you should have an easy way of accessing them. In my phone with only about 75 names there's plenty of button presses to find the correct one.
The headset is very light weight comfortable and easy to grab and put on your ear. Unfortunately this doesn't make up for the shortcomings so, I gave it only three stars.
Digital camera Review: Almost there but not quite Summary: 3 Stars
Great potential but the software needs work. Having a desktop phone which can do both USB and standard telephone line calling is impressive. But the software does not automatically connect on outbound Skype calls. (Mac). You have to leave the Pro software in "Advanced Audio ON" (poor name choice) mode which they claim shortens battery life. (why?). The address book synchronization feature works but is cumbersome and manual. Basically the device works but the software drivers fall short. It remains to be seen if Plantronics continues to improve the software side of the product.
Digital camera Review: Amazon, You Suck Summary: 1 Stars
I paid $220 for a brand new Calisto. I received a reboxed unit (obvious from the clear plastic tape clumsily applied to reseal the box). Natually, the back cover of the handset was shattered (which is perhaps why it was reboxed). Amazon, you really suck. Pay attention to this stuff or else people will start bolting for other vendors (me included). I'm sending it back and I'm not very happy. If they are gonna waste my time with this stuff, I'll shop elsewhere.
Digital camera Review: An unique product with excellent functionality Summary: 4 Stars
I had searched for ages for a phone that allowed me to use a wireless headset through the 2.5mm headset jack now standard on many phones and thereby avoid all the wires and cables associated with the units that plug into the RJ jack and use the handset lifter. Noone makes this (maybe a sound quality issue?).
Finally I found this product, and it works GREAT. The Bluetooth is easy to set up to work with my cellphone and my computer. I am using this phone with Lingo internet phone service, and it is far clearer than my previous phone/headset.
My only criticism: the dial pad is a little small unless you have delicate, slim fingers. Given the size of the unit, the keys could have been designed larger to make it easier to dial accurately. However, you learn to adapt, and the functionality of the phone outweighs this inconvenience.
Overall, a great concept, good quality and excellent functionalty. Am recommending it to my colleagues as we all work remotely.
Digital camera Review: At last a truly cordless phone Summary: 5 Stars
I have been waiting for someone to offer exactly this product. All of the cordless phones require that you tether a headset to the handset. Somehow the cord is magically attracted to the arm of my desk chair and hooks around it. The next time I swivel sideways or move away from the desk the headset is ripped from my ear or the handset is dragged to the floor or both happens.
I'm now free from the stupid wire. I can wander around the room without a two foot umbilical cord. Anyone dealing with computer tech support can appreciate how handy this is when you are down on your hands and knees following instructions about plugging and unplugging cables.
It's a slick little package that does exactly what is advertised. There is even a bonus. The same headset can be used with a bluetooth cell phone! That saves the purchase of a separate headset.
The only downside is the number pad and LCD monitor on the handset are a bit small. I can live with it but it would be nice to have a number pad that was not designed for the exclusive use of elves.
