Digital camera reviews of Plantronics UPCALISTO Bluetooth Headset

Digital camera Review: Good idea
Summary: 4 Stars

After reading all the reviews I hesitated about buyt this item but I did and am glad I did. Yes the buttons are small on the handset but even with my big fingers I am able to dial out. I find that when I call my voice mail that the keys work not like one other person said. Over all the phone works great I like the size of the hand set and you are able to down load from Outlook. The battery on the hand set does not last as long as I would like but can always put it on the charger as I talk and the head set is very comfortable and the charge on it lasts all day. One last thing is that a few people said that the head set was cheap of something like that and it is like any other electronic piece of equipment that needs TLC. In closing I would recommend to this to anyone

Digital camera Review: Good office phone, great headset.
Summary: 4 Stars

The headset is comfortable to wear and works well in my office. One thing I don't like is that if you're wearing the headset, you still have to turn it on each time a call comes in or when dialing out. By default, all calls go to the handset first.

In a world with iPhones and Blackberries, the handset's tiny screen is very basic and can be hard to read. Would prefer a more modern and larger display. Despite the keys on the handset being small, I have had no problems mis-dialing numbers.

Probably my biggest complaint is that although numbers are logged and there's a callback feature, it's worthless because you have to dial a 1 before the number. I plan to dig into the manual to see if there's some way around this but I haven't found it on any of the phone's menu. When adding a number manually to memory, you can add the 1 but not for numbers taken from the caller log.

Still, very satisfied with the phone. No noise and good battery life.

Digital camera Review: Good phone for home office
Summary: 4 Stars

This is a really good phone for a home office. The sound is clear, the headset is comfortable for all day wear, and the battery is good though you'll need to put it in the charger between calls if you are a heavy user.

The keypad is little small and hard to read in low light. I'd also like to see a color display. Maybe the next version will have these improvements.

On balance, I'd recommend to other home based workers.

Digital camera Review: Good phone overall, needs some tweaking.
Summary: 3 Stars

I just got this a couple days ago and so far, it's not a bad phone. Overall, I'd honestly be hard-pressed to recommend this phone to most people I know. But I work from home and spend about four to five hours a day talking with clients. For someone in that position, this phone is worth the cost. Easily.

However there are a couple things that are annoying me with the unit:

It doesn't hang up on its own. When the remote side of the conversation hangs up, this phone stays connected. I have to manually hang up every call.

Size of the dial pad. OK, this one might be a tad nit-picky. But the buttons are VERY tiny! I'm getting used to it, but the first day I had the unit I could barely dial the thing. If you have large fingers, you may have some problems with this unit.

The display/menu system is crap. Ok, it's not crap. But for a phone that costs more than a cell phone that has a very sophisticated menu/display system...yes...it's crap. It's VERY simple. It's easy enough to figure out (or maybe not if I'm having to hang up every call manually), but for a $200+ phone, I expected something more robust. Especially for caller ID and number completion when dialing. The call log is kinda hard to read.

The headset isn't as good as my E220. The headset that comes with the unit feels cheaply made and doesn't, in my opinion, sound as good as my $10 E220.

To make a call using the headset, you dial the number, then hit the "Call" button on the headset. That's nitpicky too, though, really.

Now, there are a LOT of GREAT things about this unit too:

I can pair my cheap E220 with this if I don't like the headset that came with it. Do a google search, there are some headsets that don't pair for whatever reason.

It's portable as can be. The handset works from well over a block away from my house and the sound is just as clear as if I were right next to the base.

The handset works as either a regular handset like a cell phone would (hold it up next to your head) or a speaker phone. And the sound on both has been fantastic. Again, even a block down the street.

The base unit is right next to my Wireless router and no interference at all.

There was a comment about the tones not being long enough to use with conferencing services. I use Webex and Centra and both work brilliantly with this this phone. Also my local VM service works, no worries.

There is software from their website for us Mac users. WARNING: The software claims it's not compatible with 10.6 yet. I haven't tested it yet.

Again, for the average user, this phone is silly. But, if you spend a goodly some of time yaking it up, this phone has been absolutely great so far. Just a couple tweaks (firmware update, Mac software updates) and it will be bloody brilliant.

Now, we'll see how I feel in a few months. ;-)

Digital camera Review: Good phone with some significant limitations.
Summary: 3 Stars

I've owned this Plantronics Calisto Pro cordless phone for about 6 months. It's my 3rd cordless phone which I use at the office on a daily basis. Here's a concise summary of the pros and cons based on my experience:

Pros: 1. Very comfortably headset; 2. Easy to charge both headset and handset; 3. Great lighted LCD display; 4. Handset stays connected to the base at a good distance; 5. Headset stays connected to the handset for up to approx. 30 feet; 6. Very good sound quality; 7. Easy to adjust the volume while speaking.

Cons: 1. Headset disconnects unexpectedly (hanging up on the caller, approximately every 30th call); 2. Small buttons which are tough to read (even though they are lighted); 3. Limited instruction manual; 4. Annoying to hang-up phone (either pressing a small button on the side of the headset or pressing the tough to find button on the handset).

I spoke with a technician at Plantronics regarding the headset disconnection problem. He was minimally helpful, instructing me to re-link the headset and base (even though they are only a few feet apart when it disconnects), which only corrected the problem temporarily.

Overall, it's a good phone with many pros and some significant cons, at a very significant price. My conclusion is that I would not buy this phone again, but will continue to use it for now.
