Digital camera reviews of Plustek Opticfilm 7300Digital camera Review: RE: Plustek Model 7300 OpticFilm Scanner Summary: 5 Stars
RE: About Model 7300 OpticFilm
Dear Plustek:
My company, Polymer Valley Media Corporation based in Fairlawn,
Ohio USA is the Master Licensor of the largest privately-held single-artist
fine-art collection of its kind in the world; the Lowell S.V. Devin Collection
of Drawings and Paintings.
After researching several popular slide scanner brands and models
we chose the Plustek OpticFilm 7300 (w/Silverfast SE Plus) to commence
initial testing from hundreds of 35mm Kodachrome 64 archive slides of
the collection taken throughout the mid-1980's and 1990's.
Although we had prior commercially-prepared digitized slide files
from the collection, simplicity of use and 'first-person' quality control
of results from your Plustek OpticFilm 7300 were voted better than
those from the commercial lab.
The Value of the Human Factor:
This is especially critical in balancing legacy-integrity
of both art and (its) attending 35mm photo-archive record,
prioritized individual attention your Plustek product most
assuredly provides. For us, output continuity is everything,
the advantage of an all-purpose scanner such as your
OpticFilm 7300, the result being more natural, not
over-processed looking results.
We wish to share our story with Plustek
and invite decoration markets and manufacturers
worldwide to preview and compare our historic results.
Respectfully,
David B. Keller

Digital camera Review: Scanning slides made easy Summary: 4 Stars
Had tried other scanners and the quality and the ease was not anywhere near this one. Had no problems with software. not much for instructions, but easy to navigate around and figure out how to do different things.
The only downfall is the limit of 4 slides at a time in the holder. But a reasonable trade-off for the other ease and quality of the scan.
Would recommend ordering additional slide holders
Digital camera Review: Shame on Amazon Summary: 1 Stars
Shame on Amazon. I ended up with the Plustek Opticfilm 7200 as that was the only one available when I purchased it in November, 2009. I turns out the unit was 3 Models old and was probably 3 years out of date. I continue to be plagued with problems, incompatibility with Windows7 and the constant failure of the unit to sync to my PC without the need to uninstall and reinstall software each time I try it. When I finally contacted Amazon only 90 days after purchasing the unit, I was advised they would not accept it for return and that I would have to deal with the manufacturer. I don't know if the 7300 is anymore compatible with Windows7 or not. Just be advised that the product is at least 2-3 Models years outdated.
Digital camera Review: Software isn't very good. Summary: 2 Stars
Easy to use. I am not wild about the software that comes with it. Seems like you can find other scanners that remove dust and scratches when it makes the scan. The software that comes with it is very average. The actual piece of hardware is nice, but all your touch up work has to be done in Photoshop.
Because of the software issue I'm not sure I would recommend it to someone. Do your research on the software that accompanies your scanner. That the one problem I have with this scanner
Digital camera Review: Solid Performance and a Super price Summary: 5 Stars
This scanner fits my needs for high quality negative scanning at a great price. My Epson flatbed has a adapter but the quality is lacking at best.
The software included does the job. The only wish I would make be a book manual instead of just getting needed info off the Help section in the software. The negative holder is good. No problem loading software on my XP computer. High quality scans take time and I have two large binders of negatives from many years, so I will be scanning for some time. Scanning a photo on the flatbed and the same negative resulted in a tie or maybe a slight edge to the film scanner. The printed image of the negative on photo paper was equal to the Kodak processed print. I have not used any slides so I cannot comment how they fare. I would recommend this scanner to anyone who wants great scans at a super price.
