I took this camera with me on a medical mission trip to Honduras. We went to a remote village where the people are poor and have little access to modern amenities. I took several pictures of senior citizens and children and gave them to the families. They loved it! Probably most of them never have family pictures like we all take for granted. This is a nice little camera -- in the process of being discontinued. BUT the price here is OUTRAGEOUS. You can probably find it at a nearby CVS or Duane Reade or Target for about $40.
Get it for a good price and it's tremendous fun, especially for kids. They get a real kick out of seeing the picture develop before their eyes -- just can't be beat by a digital camera.
The pictures are _not_ of the quality of a decent point-and-shoot digital camera, but how many digital cameras cost $40 and how many give pictures _instantly_? And the Polaroid pics have a quality of their own which is hard to find in the digital world.
As of mid-March, the word is that _no one_ is interested in licensing the Polaroid technology (though Polaroid has indicated that they are happy to license it out). So the downside is that film will disappear, but the upside is that these cameras will not see the popularity of, say, Diana cameras. That means they should become _less_ expensive. One way or another, do not pay the thieves at Toyzz $160. Check e-Bay or anywhere first.

there's nothing more fun than an instant picture, and this camera delivers. of course it's the only camera that does what it does, so not having any competition makes comparisons ahem, difficult. that said, the only thing that keeps me from snapping away more is the ridiculous price of film. but again, that's what happens when you have no competition. when is someone going to make a digital camera that prints its own pics? would be a killer ap.
