The name "Monitor" is special to Polk Audio. The original Polk Audio Monitor Series, produced in the mid-1970s, ushered in the modern loudspeaker era by setting the standard for performance and value. Hailing from Polk's reborn Monitor series--which ushered in the modern loudspeaker era in the mid-1970s--the sub combines quality construction with high-end performance, all for a price that won't break the bank. The PSW10 is equipped with a 10-inch polymer-composite cone driver that creates tight, musical bass, along with state-of-the-art laser-based Klippel measurement technology to perfectly center the voice coil within the magnetic field. The Klippel technology improves the linearity of the frequencies to ensure a deep, precise sound for everything from action-movie explosions to cello musical passages.
Adding to the quality is the non-resonant medium-density fiberboard (MDF) enclosure, the 0.75-inch baffles, and the internal bracing, all of which contribute to the sub's superior detail, accuracy, and musicality. Meanwhile, the PSW10's built-in high-current amplifier (50 watts RMS, 100 watts dynamic) supplies all the power you need for big bass, while the adjustable low-pass crossover, phase switch, and volume control make it easy to blend your sub's output with your front and rear speakers. The sub even includes automatic signal-sensing circuitry, meaning it knows when to turn itself on and off.
