Digital camera reviews of Polycom SoundPoint Pro SE-225 Phone Power Supply Included

Digital camera Review: Don't buy this phone
Summary: 1 Stars

Had this phone for 3 years. Intermittently, I could hear a dialtone, but the phone's dialing wouldn't register on the line.

Speakerphone quality was okay. The built-in headphone amp is sub-par and cannot adequately raise the volume of sound for the user.

The 3-way calling (2 lines, conferenced together) has never worked. I can hear each party, but they cannot hear each other.

Finally, after 3 years, the phone failed. It can't dial out. I've tried changing out the phone cable, resetting the software default settings, and such. Nothing works. I have a $250 paperweight (I bought mine at a higher price than at Amazon). Software rev is 0.2b if that makes any difference.

My company even has a service contract with Polycom and they refuse to help me with this phone.

Don't buy it. Save $100 and buy some other 2-line phone. I had such high hopes for this phone.

Digital camera Review: Excellent SOHO Phone!
Summary: 4 Stars

I read all the reviews as did everyone else and I was caught between a home phone with a lot of features like the uniden or panasonic (needed 2 line) and a professional phone like Polycom. Even though this unit is the little brother of the bigger conference room speakerphones it is undeniably a solid performing small business / home office phone. You won't get the features of a home phone - yes the non tilting LCD is annoying and you can't download Brittney's latest masterpiece as a ring tone. But what matters for me - searchable and indexed phone book (type in the letters and it goes right to the name), as well as an excellent speakerphone. I don't know about other reviews knocking the speakerphone, but for me it is excellent. There is *no* static or clipping for me whatsoever. I rareley ever use the handset and sit 2-3 feet away form the phone and no on eever complains. So I felt compelled to through in my two cents - excellent phone, just what I was looking for for home office, excellent handset / speakerphone / call transfer and conference abilities, etc.

Digital camera Review: Excellent work from home phone
Summary: 4 Stars

I really love this phone. I bought a headset to go with it and it is just great. The speakerphone is the best I have ever used at home. I love the ability to switch from speakerphone to headset without the caller even knowing. The headset hanger is really cool and helps keep the desk tidy. The only complaint I have is that the speed dial can be a bit of a pain to use until you get used to it. Your top 10 numbers are super easy. The rest, you have to scroll through the list, not always an easy thing, as the LCD is not easy to read unless you are right on top of the phone. Yeah, the headset is warm, but I have only used it once to see what it was like. :-)

Digital camera Review: Excellent!
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this phone for my home office.
I've been using it for about 2 weeks and it works great!
Excellent speaker phone, excellent sound quality for conference calls,
far better than the phones I used before.
Something of it can still be improved though, such as the display,
but it's really minor compared to other functions.

Overall, 5 starts!

Digital camera Review: For the money, not at all reliable
Summary: 1 Stars

I work from my home office, and am on the phone an average of 5 hours a day. It is essential that I have a clear, reliable speakerphone. Unfortunately, Polycom's Soundpoint Pro SE-225 did not deliver in either case.

I have had three of these phones in the last year, two of which were replacements from Polycom. All three had the same problem - suddenly the phone will not recognize digit dialing. The first replacement came from Polycom and worked for three months, the second for about nine, and now my warranty is out and Polycom will not address that this is a recurring problem. Effectively I have a $250 lump of plastic that now must be thrown away.

Additionally, audio quality, both incoming and outgoing, are marginal at best. Often incoming call volumes on speakerphone will randomly drop to inaudible levels. Resetting the phone resolves this temporarily, but it does return. For outgoing calls I am often told that my volume is very low, and the only resolution is to put my mouth right next to the microphone.

Polycom, for what its worth, is a well-known company. I have used them in corporate environments around the world. However, their products are marginal at best, and their support is abysmal. While it may be more effective in corporate environment where a $200+ phone can be thrown away, in the home consumer market this is not acceptable.

I encourage others to look elsewhere, which I am once again now forced to do.
