Digital camera reviews of Power Supply Tester 2.0 20/24Digital camera Review: NOT FOR TECH USE: Does not diagnose correctly. Warning. Summary: 1 Stars
This will NOT tell you if your power supply is good or bad. I test power supplies often and this will test a power supply showing good BUT when you put that power supply to a motherboard and try to power it on NOTHING. Hook another power supply to the machine and the computer works. You could have just made the wrong diagnosis if relying upon this item.
This is a pretty toy but not a tool. You may wrongly diagnose a motherboard as being bad because of this. Maybe it has something to do with a motherboard putting more of a load on a power supply than the LED's in this tester.
Mark my words- don't rely on this for real testing. You will keep bad power supplies (unless all you were going to power were LED's) and throw away good motherboards. Can we put a load on this? I really do need a good tester. Anybody??
Digital camera Review: Power Supply Tester Summary: 5 Stars
This product has worked well. It's easy to use and it's accurate. Testing a Power Supply couldn't be easier - plug in the end connectors and either it lights up or it doesn't.
Digital camera Review: Power Supply Tester - great tool Summary: 5 Stars
Only minor quibble is the note (in the one-page 'manual' that says not to worry if there is no -5v - most supplies don't deliver this voltage. It would be nice if this were on the back of the unit so it would always be in the same place.
It's a valuable addition to my kit.
Digital camera Review: Tells if the power supply is completely dead but... Summary: 3 Stars
it will not detect the minor power fluctuations that might cause your motherboard to not send the power_good signal.
That is as far as this product goes. It is fairly well constructed, has LEDs and sounds to tell if it delivers power at all but ultimatly it will only test if the powersupply is completely dead, not just dead enough not to be useful.
Bottom line: It can be useful in a quick diagnosis for the price but simply because it delivers all green doesn't mean the power supply won't have problems completely hooked up to your system.
Id probibly reccomend using a digital multimeter and a paperclip to test if you have the expertice, if not this may be a low cost option to see if you have to shell out another $80 for a new PS.

Power Supply Tester 2.0 20/24
This is a great product. This one, easy to use tool can answer most of those questions that come up in the field when something is not getting power. Is it the power supply or the wires or the motherboard connectors? Of course, you can use a VOM, but first you have to do that little hand dance to get the probes on the right plugs or jacks for the first test, and then, do it over again for each connector. Anyone up for testing a 24 pin power supply? This little gadget does them all with one test.
This one stays in my tool box -- and nobody better even think about borrowing it! But, come to think of it, at the price, it's too inexpensive to stress over.
