Digital camera reviews of PowerEx MH-C9000 WizardOne Charger-Analyzer + 4 Pack AA NiMH Rechargeable Batteries [2700mAh]

Digital camera Review: A top quality "Smart" charger
Summary: 5 Stars

A high quality smart charger made to get the most out of rechargable NIMH or NiCD batteries. It can be involved as some have noted to input battery capacity information and charge/discharge rates desired, but that is to maximize battery life and there is a lot of information at [...] as well, if a person wants or needs to know more.

Whether the display is a night light or can't turn off is of no concern, really, when I was looking for a top quality smart battery charger (I'm not sure why someone needs it in their bedroom only to be bothered by the backlighting anyway - move it to another room *problem solved*). The charger does what it was intended to do: analyze, charge, discharge, and refresh AA and AAA batteries.

Of special interest to someone wanting maximum life out of the investment made in NIMH batteries is the fact that this charger monitors the temperature of the batteries - a feature Radio Control users highly use everyday. This is an important feature as discharging and recharging generates heat and DIRECTLY has an effect on how the battery reacts to discharging and charging.

This is a quality charger and does what is expected of a smart charger in order to get the most possible out of rechargeable batteries.

I'm also looking at the MH-C801D 8-cell smart charger since maintaining a handful of batteries can be very time consuming 4 at-a-time. I'm favoring this model because of the heavy duty adapter, interchangeable power cord, and 1-hour charge capability as compared to other 8-cell chargers.

Note: I bought my charger with 4 Powerex AA's from Accessory Genie (due to their 99% satisfaction rating), but they currently show up as "Customer Satisfaction Ratings Leader". Shipping was comparable to the other main merchant listed but you have to look at exactly who the shipping merchant is.

Digital camera Review: Charger for AA and AAA Batteries
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased this charger with a set of AA batteries from a dealer on Amazon.com and I received the product in the condition that was described, and it works great. I havent stopped using it since I bought it. It takes some time to recondition the batteries, no complaints here. I would recommend it to anoyone.

Digital camera Review: Did not work on my AAA batteries
Summary: 1 Stars

This charger has many nice features. It worked well with my AA batteries. It gave me a lot of information while charging them in only a few hours. The charger could not remember to charge more than one AAA. No matter how many times and ways I place the AAA batteries in the charger It could only remember to charge the last one. As soon as I removed that one it would shut off even though there were still other AAA batteries in the charger. As soon as I find the box I am sending it back!!!!!

Digital camera Review: Fantastic Charger
Summary: 5 Stars

I had reached the point that I was about to abandon my Pentax K100 because the rechargeable battery life seemed to have diminished to less than ten shots no matter which of my four sets of batteries were installed immediately after being fully charged with my Powerex MH-c401fs charger.

Rather than spending another $500 to upgrade my camera I decided to chance this charger. Absolutely great decision. Being an old, slow learner, it took me awhile to recognize the control and flexibility this charger provided. I read the instruction that I had printed off the internet many times while waiting for the charger to arrive and still failed to recognize that each of the four charging stations was computer controlled and independent of the other three.

I did find the patience to run what I thought were the highest capacity batteries I owned through the "Break In Mode". My patience was severely tested when it took more than two full days to break in the first set of batteries.

Each of the six other sets of AA and AAA batteries I could find lying around were run through the break in mode. One thing I learned quickly was that a good part of my problem all along had been "bad batteries" that were rejected as "HIGH" during the impedance check.

Finally, I ran each set of batteries that I could assemble through the "break in" cycle a second time as most had been lying around unused for several year.

After cycling the Powerex batteries that came with the charger through "Break In" twice, I installed the set in my K100 and have now taken more than 40 pictures. The battery indicator on the camera still indicates a full charge.

I have concluded that a purchase of any charger other than the MH-C9000 is a waste of money.Powerex WizardOne AA/AAA NiMH Charger-Analyzer w/4 2700 Batt

Digital camera Review: Great Product.........Period
Summary: 5 Stars

If you're looking for the best AAA / AA battery charger, quit looking and buy this thing. Yes there are some other good units out there but this is the King if you can live with charging only (4) cells at a time. You have complete individual control for each cell and it's great being able to analyze your batteries and group them by capacity. I researched all similar units considerably; so there were no surprises when it came in and it just works.

I'm an engineer and will admit to being a little of a gadget freak but this thing is cool just because it does its job really well. Yeah some of the features seem like bells and whistles to some, but they all have a purpose.

While you're at it, buy the PowerEx 2700 mA batteries to go with it. WOW do they hold up compared to the typical national brands. I mean like they freakishly hold up.
