I've purchased 4 Powerex batteries and a Maha charger, and as part of this package also got a free bonus pack of 4 AA Kodak batteries. The Powerex batteries worked well at first, but after about a year of moderate use, the batteries would not hold charge and were pretty much useless. I've tried using them in a camera and a mouse, but they either didn't work at all (camera), or just lasted for a few days (mouse). As a last resort I tried using them for backup memory in a land line phone. This is a very benign application with a very low current requirement, and yet the batteries would only last a week before completely discharging. The free Kodak batteries, interestingly enough are still going strong, in all applications, and in fact have been used in the same land line phone now for at least two months without a need for a single recharge cycle.Digital camera Review: Buy better batteries

I have recently experienced failures in several of my Powerex batteries while my Eneloops are still going strong. I no longer buy Powerex and only use Eneloops and recently purchased Energizer rechargeable. The powerex batteries that failer were only about 2 years old and were charged and discharged about 10 times. Digital camera Review: Recent purchase ..... pretty good... UPDATE- AWESOME

New to me... but worked great, will add more to this in time, when I can say exactly how they performed. In comparison to all my other rechargeables.
UPDATE: as of July 2009, I am shooting well over 200 pics with these before needing a recharge. Along with viewing & editing time on camera. So they are way better than the Cybershots, Energizers, or Duracells. And the price isn't much more.... GO FOR IT
It was nice taking a trip w/out a charger, or worry. What a relief !!!
