Digital camera reviews of RCA EZ201 Small Wonder 60 Minute Point-and-Shoot Camcorder (White)Digital camera Review: Extremely poor quality item Summary: 1 Stars
I had temporary use of a friend's RCA Small Wonder EZ205 and found it a good quality item for the price. However, there seemed to be good reviews of its predecessor, the EZ201. Since the EZ205 is unavailable I purchased the EZ201 and it's AWFUL. The quality of the video is grainy, makes everything look either green or red and is even more of a disappointment given some of the positive reviews it received from various online reviewers. When I called the company they said, Sorry that's just the way it's made!!!! Don't waste 5 cents on this item.
Digital camera Review: Features are great but they can't make up for poor video! Summary: 2 Stars
I have played with the Flip Video Ultra extensively and was very impressed with the video quality, it was much, much better than I had ever expected from such a camcorder.
What I didn't like about the Flip Ultra was its fixed internal memory, hard to press record button and basically lack of any other features. When I heard about the RCA EZ201 Small Wonder with its SD card slot and swivel LCD screen I was very excited, especially when I discovered that the technology in the Small Wonder was licensed by Pure Digital, the same people making the Flip Ultra. I thought to myself, this is probably the same camera, but with better features.
The SD card slot and the swivel screen were very neat features, but when I looked at the recorded video captured by the Small Wonder on my PC there was no comparison to similar videos captured with the Flip Ultra. The Flip Ultra video was much clearer, more focused, just better all around.
I was very saddened because the Small Wonder held so much promise. It was much cheaper than the Flip Ultra also, but I guess you get what you pay for. Until the Small Wonder can compete in image quality with the Flip Ultra, all the features in the world won't make people buy it. People buy video cameras to watch the captured video, the Small Wonder's video is just not ready for prime time as I write this review.
Digital camera Review: Flip video has far better picture quality than the RCA Small Wonder Summary: 1 Stars
I've had my flip Video Ultra for over a year. However the RCA caught my attention because of its features and SD card capabilities. I went and bought one at Circuit City for $79.99, got home and shot the same video clips; one with my Flip video Ultra and the other with the RCA Small Wonder "NOT", I play back both of the video clips at the same time and what a huge difference, day and night. My Flip video Ultra definitely has far better video quality. The sound is also far superior on the Flip camcorder. I really do not understand people behind technology, what in the world are they thinking to produce a video camera with more features than the Flip Video but with a far inferior video and sound quality. My guess would be because there are more people out there buying inexpensive camcorders without taking into consideration the video and sound quality. In other word easier to fool with features and not video quality. Anyone with a Flip Video knows the difference. I just Wish the ones making the flip video could come up with an updated model that would have such great features such as memory expansion capabilities and a Flip out display. Flip video should live up to its name and have a flip out LCD for self recording.......unfreaking believable.
I'll return the RCA Big deception I meant Small Wonder. I'll have to pay 15% restocking fee, I rather do that than to keep something with such poor video quality.
My advice to anyone: buy the Flip Video Ultra, you won't believe the amazing video and sound quality you'll get from such a small camcorder.
Digital camera Review: Good all around pocket cam... no points of failure. Summary: 5 Stars
I have owned a few expensive video cameras and they break far to easy. Just too many potential points of failure with all the mechanical moving parts such as tape reels, rubber belts, gears, bearings, springs, etc. This camera has no moving parts at all. Everything stores on SD/MMC memory and you can use up to 2 GB to get 5 hours of video time! Amazing. Quality is good for home videos... your own UTube or Ebaum's World submission... attach to e-mails, play over TVs with included composite video line, save to your hard disk or edit short takes and string them into a movie. Great low light sensitivity, USB connection, single frame capture (photos)... very easy operation (great for old folks and non-techies too). Very capable and worth every dime. Buy one before the word gets out and there are none left!!!
Digital camera Review: Good camcorder Summary: 4 Stars
I wasn't looking for anything expensive or fancy, just something that could get the job done. After looking at a few other brands, I settled on this one. I bought this video camera to record my training sessions and critique form on all my heavy lifts, and to date it has done a great job. It is small, easy to use, has OK video quality and comes with a USB extension so you don't have to worry about the connector getting all torqued up when it's hooked into the computer. The only complaint I have, and it is to be expected with any tech product, is that the RCA eats battery power like a kid in a candy store. Do yourself a favor and buy some rechargeable batteries.
