Digital camera Review: If you want TV with the web, the best solution - caution on wireless set up however!

I got my MSNTV2 recently and aside from having problems setting it up with wireless broadband, it now works pretty well. I used to be a WEb TV subscriber 4 years ago but missed being able to do things on the TV in the bedroon, especially on weekend mornings on a 36" screen in front of my bed. It was cool for me and the wife to surf the web together also or look up something quickly if I needed to.
CAUTION: If you are trying to get WIRELESS adapters to work with this, ONLY use the ones they recommend ON THE WEB SITE but make sure theY ARE THE VERSIONS they recommend on their web site or you will be frustrated when they do not work. You may have to find them on the internet stoires because most retail stores have later models which DO NOT work with MSNTV2. Also they do not tell you that you have to upgrade to the latest software on the units purchased directly from Microsoft to get wireless to work at all.
The video streaming is cool with thousands of videos available on demand and it is like watching your TV. Ocassionally it hangs up and you lose sound sometimes forcing you to turn off the unit and restart it. I am going to see if more memory is available to fix that.
Overall, I am fairly pleased, knowing that this medium has limitations but it does what I want. It is not as good as I had hoped but aside from a rocky set up which I had to get their help on (they were helpful but it could have been unnecessary with better documenation with the box and an upgrade before shipping).

I have had a Webtv for about 10 years. The oudated browser was no longer able to handle the rapidly changing new websites. With great anticipation, I got this unit.What a letdown. I get constantly told by e-mail from MSN what a great unit this is, but I don't see it. I would recommend one get a netbook computer unless one is satisfied with the adequate e-mail and spotty website manipulation of this unit. You can do a search, find what you would like to investigate, and then find out this unit will not enter the website.Summary: If you just want to do e-mail and gamble on entering and navigating a website, or following a search, fine. This new box from msn internet and email service is so good you can though away SKY,SKY+,NTL,TELEWESTBROADBAND and SKY MULTIROOM or FREEVIEV. First get a msn tv sub then by the software its a simple as 123 or ABC!Digital camera Review: KEEP YOUR REGULAR MSNTV

This is mostly directed toward people who own and hopefully still have the previous msntv. After several years of having msntv, I thought I'd upgrade to msntv 2. BIG MISTAKE. What ever shortcomings the old msntv has it doesn't compare to this debacle they dare call an upgrade. They claim you can keep all your favs and email address, and email list, and all those other things associated with your account. Technically that's true, but when you go into your email and try to look at the jpeg, metropcs and whatever other pics people have sent you... NOPE you can't see them. They're blocked. A notice pops up with the incompatabilty of the "upgraded" msntv 2 and the pics you want to look at. And when you want to view those naughty MPGs you've saved in your favs...(you know who you are) Nope you can't see them either. They claim the video is too long and will take a long time to load. It gets to 10% downloaded then freezes. Freezes till you either unplug the unit or till a phoneline interuption. Plus the little pictures for immeadiate recognition of your favs is replaced with a light blue tinted msn butterfly. Here's another problem, I tried to order something from Amazon, halfway through the process my screen turned white and once again it froze up on me. How long? long enough to take a decent shower including lather, rinse, repeat. But it didn't resume. It stayed frozen. In fact Amazon didn't even have my info displayed. And if you think shutting the old msn off when it froze was an annoyance, I can't even begin to describe the nightmare involved with this hunk of oversized useless hardware. One final piece of info. If you switched over to a digital phone system and your old msn seems not to work anymore don't get rid of it. It can (For lack of a better word) be retrained to adapt to digital phone service. It may take a week or so, but it can be done.Digital camera Review: Love it Love it

The msn2 is a really great product. We had no problems getting it hooked up. The upgrades are great. My dad is on it every day.
