I was very dissapointed at the quality of sound from the RP7887 Super radio. That 6 inch speaker is just window dressing.
I've had better midrange and bass from cheaper radios with 3 inch speakers. The overall is sound is "tinny". It does have
good reception on distant stations, but with lousy sound , who cares.

I work in building with steel clad walls (no, not a prison!) Reception is only good when the radio sits by a window. I recently moved to a different side of the building and lost the optimal position for my cheap radio for reception of the AM station I prefer. The station was still audible but heavy with static that made it unbearable. I read the reviews for the RCA RP7887 AM/FM Super Portable Radio and placed the order. The reception for the station I prefer is very good again despite the poor location of my window. Also, the sound quality is great compared to my cheap radio. I very much appreciate the the bass and treble controls. The FM reception is extremely good, but I don't listen to music. I bought one of these b/c I work in an office where am reception isn't that great. my company blocks all streaming online radio so i couldn't listen to sports talk radio. i had a cheap radio at my desk and the am reception wasn't the best. so i looked online for the "best" AM radio and came across this one. once i recieved it i was disappointed because the cheap $5 radio i had on my desk before worked just as good if not better. plus it only gets decent reception at one certain spot on my desk. so i have to work with the BIG radio on my desk. if i had to do it again i would have kept my $50 bucks.Digital camera Review: FM reception garbled

Tuning in FM is almost impossible from the loud rumble that the tuning dial causes while moving along the dial. When you finally find a station you are looking for the sound is actually pretty good. Just don't move the dial around too much and this radio is OK.
For my purposes this unit is just about worthless. The FM reception seems to tune in more static than stations and unless you find a station then leave it there, it's not much of a radio.
