Digital camera reviews of RCA RP7887 AM/FM Super Portable RadioDigital camera Review: Great Radio Summary: 5 Stars
We get poor FM reception here- river valley with hills on either side. I plugged in radio and got clear reception from the two stations I wanted. Many other stations were also perfect. Music was rich and full and speech was crystal clear. Got best reception by placing radio on window sill (fits perfectly and looks good there because of its shape) with antenna extended straight up.
AM is fine. Many stations, some clearer than others. Not using external antenna. The only radio I have is the car radio and they seem to be about equal.
Got some unexpected static this evening which turned out to be the microwave. Whew!
The radio looks very good and workmanship is excellent. Dials are accurate and function smoothly. Easy to use.
It would be interesting to compare with a Tivoli or Bose- can't imagine better reception or sound than I already get.
Wish you could input sw radio for the speakers. I don't see anything that would function as an input port.
Digital camera Review: Great Radio Summary: 5 Stars
My husband just raves about this radio! He likes to listen to the afternoon talk shows while working outside, but we're in an area with poor reception. He's purchased and tried two other radios prior to this one -- neither was cheap; both failed miserably. We'd almost given up hope, but decided to make a concerted effort to find something that would work -- read the reviews on this radio and decided to take a chance, and boy are we glad we did! The reception is great, the sound/volume is great, and the batteries last a very long time. In short, we are super happy with this purchase!!
Digital camera Review: Great Reception and Big Sound In Spite of Inaccurate Tuning Dial Summary: 5 Stars
If you're looking for a 45-dollar radio with no frills, the best AM available, very strong FM, big sound and you don't care about looks or big size, accurate tuning dial, no clock or MP3 output, you've found your radio in the RCA High-Performance Super Radio. I keep mine in the garage and it booms big enough to hear when I'm washing the car. The AM is great. About the biggest headache is getting used to the tuning dial, which is less accurate than any radio I've owned. But it's still easy to use. To get a high-performance radio with digital tuning, presets, similar big sound, and accurate read-out, you'd have to dish out 125 dollars or so for the Kaito 2100. So depending on your budget and needs, the RCA may be the best radio available.
If you're looking for a replacement for the now discontinued Super Radio, you might want to check out the even better Sangean PR-D5, featuring a 200mm internal ferrite antenna, the biggest one available.
Digital camera Review: Great Value! Summary: 4 Stars
The consensus of the reviews about this radio is accurate! It is a great radio for the price. The sound is better than what one would expect for the cost. The tuning, however, is very tricky for distant stations, and it does require a bit of fiddling to get a far away station to lock on. However, once you find the "sweet spot," and then turn on the AFC, it will stay locked on without further adjustment. The tuner is also to get distant stations that other radios, even much more expensive ones, are unable to pull in. Buy it! You won't be unhappy!
Digital camera Review: Great for dxing, but also look at Sony XDR-F1HD Summary: 5 Stars
I own three of these RCA radios, & love 'em. They're great for "dxing," long distance listening. They're an unbeatable deal if you must have a portable radio; but if you don't care about portability, you owe it to yourself to check out the Sony XDR-F1HD, which Amazon sells for $85. The Sony is a tuner only, so you need to use headphones or plug it in to powered speakers or a component stereo setup, but it does FM DX as well as any radio in the world, and a lot of the people who buy this RCA might choose the Sony, if they don't need portability.
