Digital camera reviews of Recoton Fiber Optic Toslink to 3.5mm Mini Adapter

Digital camera Review: Does the job, but is way too tight
Summary: 1 Stars

My reason for getting this adapter was so that I could use my one optical cable with either the XBox or my Mac by swapping out the adapter.

The problem is that this adapter fits way too snuggly. I can't get it off without fear that I'll break the cable its attached to.

So my purpose was to avoid buying another cable, but I had to buy another cable anyway because I can't get the adapter off of my existing cable.

It does have great sound quality, although how could any optical device or adapter not have good sound quality? It either works or it doesn't.

Digital camera Review: Does what it says it'll do, and does it very well
Summary: 5 Stars

For anyone who's happened upon my review of the TOSLink-to-MiniTOSLink cable by Dayton, this review will sound pretty familiar and with good reason. I went two different routes in what I ordered, trying to cover all my angles in case one product turned out to be junk. I'm happy to say, both were great. In this case, here's the situation: I recently bought an Intel Mac Mini and was faced with both a golden opportunity to improve the quality of my sound output, and a dilemma. The Mini can output audio by both an RCA jack and offers optical output as well. The quandry? They're both built into a single outlet, which means that the optical interface isn't your standard TOSLink/SPDIF-sized port. But I couldn't sit by and not take advantage of feeding output directly to my home theater digital decoder.

This TOSLink-to-MiniTOS adapter allowed me to convert one end of an existing Monster cable and hook it up to my Mini. My iTunes library sounded phenomenal on my full 5.1 surround system.

These little guys were also priced just right, so I bought several of them just in case anything ever goes wrong with one. Overall, I'm very pleased I can take the Mini in a solid HTPC direction with this product.

Digital camera Review: Excellent Price
Summary: 5 Stars

The toslink to 3.5mm jack works fantastic. I bought it for surround sound editing on my Mac and for use with my Astro Mixamp for Steam games. It works perfectly and is so simple. The sound quality does not noticeably get knocked down and the price is beyond perfect. I definitely recommend this.

Digital camera Review: Fragile but essential for the true audiophile
Summary: 3 Stars

This is a good product. I ended up ordering two to hook up my macbook pro into my apple Hi Fi stereo and it worked great until the tip of one of the fiber optic cable adapters broke off. They are fragile, so use caution when handling this item, but otherwise it produces excellent sound quality when used in appropriate applications.

Digital camera Review: Good quality & price
Summary: 5 Stars

This product does exactly what I needed it to do. In my Macbook Pro it efficiently (with no sound distortion) transfers the laptops optical signal through my regular toslink cable into my surround sound receiver.

Works great, quality sound.
