Digital camera reviews of Red Sound-Squared "SPORT" Headphone Earbuds Earphones w/ 2 Earhook Sizes and Earphone Case - Great Value!Digital camera Review: An excellent pair of earphones for $25 Summary: 4 Stars
I bought these earphones as I began my freshman year of college in New York City. Let me first comment on how great they sound: I can hear things in songs I have NEVER noticed before. The bass is there but doesn't overpower the rest of the sound, and everything sounds crisp and clear. These earphones are probably the best ones you can find for only $25. I would have given them five stars, but I've had a couple of problems. The original pair that I purchased stopped working after about a month of use - one earphone just completely stopped producing sound. Fortunately, I was able to message Earphones Plus about the problem and they offered to send me a new pair in exchange for the broken one for free. The second problem is that the wires in one of the earphones in my newer pair got disconnected from the earphone. I think I may be able to fix them with a soldering iron, but I plan to order a new pair from Earphones Plus anyway. I used these earphones almost every single day, whether it was while riding the subway or working out at the gym. I even dropped them while on the elliptical machine and even though they got scratched up and probably would've broken if they were made of plastic, they worked fine afterwards. I have also flown quite a bit this semester (my mother works for an airline so I fly free) and even though they are not advertised as "noise-blocking" earphones, they are pretty effective in blocking outside noise, and I don't have to turn my iPod up to a ridiculously high volume on the plane just to be able to hear my music. Despite my issues with their functionality, I love these earphones and am definitely not hesitating one bit to purchase another pair. Considering how heavily and frequently I use them, I would say they are very durable and worth the price.
Digital camera Review: Best earbud headphones I've seen for the money! Summary: 5 Stars
I have been using the Sound-Squared Sport model earbuds for a couple of weeks with my Sansa E280 with Rockbox firmware. This is the best set of earbud-type headphones I've used for the price. There are others as good, but not at this price point.
Let me start with comfort. I have had numerous pairs of earbuds from Phillips, Sony, JVC, etc. I specifically chose the sport model from Sound Squared because reviews on other sites said they don't fall out. Since I work out alot, that was important to me. The other reviewers were right; these buds stay in place, period. The over the ear band is comfortable, enough that I can wear them for hours at a time at work. They also come with 3 different silicone bud sizes for a wide variety of ear sizes and shapes. The cord length is also nice and long, measuring 5 feet from tip to buds.
Next I'll move onto sound. When I first used the buds, there was way too much bass, even for my standards because I like plenty of bass. Then I realized that it was actually my equalizer settings, and not the buds. As I stated, I have Rockbox loaded on my Sansa, so I have access to awesome equalizer settings. What I was doing was trying to compensate for my poor previous earbuds by turning the bass way up, and when I plugged these in whoa! too much bass! I adjusted the level of the bass and wow, these buds are awesome sounding! Crisp highs, deep lows, and distortion free. These aren't rated as being noise cancelling, but the silicon tips do a great job of cancelling out ambient noise (such as my loud treadmill).
Last is value. $30.00 for this pair of earbuds is ridiculous. It wasn't a lot to drop on a pair of buds from a company I've never heard of before, so I gave them a try. I was seriously surprised at the quality for price point. I had to rate these buds a 5 based on the criteria importatnt to me: Comfort, Sound, and Value. The packaging was a little lite, as they came in a plastic ziploc bag inside of a bubble pack envelope, but I enjoyed not having to open a blister pack! I would highly suggest these buds to anybody!
Digital camera Review: Best earbuds i've ever had Summary: 5 Stars
So I have owned more pairs of earbuds that I have subsequently lost than I care to admit. But to be honest I have never been 100% happy with any pair that I've experimented with in the past because either a) they fall out or b) they start to go shady on the quality shortly after I get them. At any rate I decided to take a chance on this company, sound-squared, which I didn't hear of until I started hunting for yet another pair of earbuds that were semi-comfortable and decently priced since I have managed to lose every pair I've ever owned.
I must say that sound-sqaured is probably the best kept earbud secret. Not only is the sound quality AMAZING (in comparison to other earbuds i've tried, though I'm not an audiophile), but these don't fall out of my ears! As far as the sound quality, this is the first pair of earbuds I've owned where I can actually hear and even feel the bass vibrations in my music, and my volume isn't even turned halfway up! On top of that, these earbuds don't fall out! I have smaller than normal ears and I have had one heck of a time trying to find ones that either fit in my ear or don't pop out once I start working out because of sweaty ears. These things are amazing...I just finished a two hour workout of running and biking and sweat my [...] off and these things didn't budge! Plus they have extra buds of different sizes that you can play around with to get your fit. The over the ear piece is just an added bonus of security to keep the actual buds in place, and it manages to do its job quite well without being uncomfortable. Honestly, had I not been listening to music through the headphones, I wouldn't even have noticed they were there.
I've tried the sony and apple products that everyone seems to go for and complain about a month down the road. Try something new for a change! Go for this company! I feel like I might actually cry if I manage to lose these pair of earphones....they are THAT great.
Digital camera Review: Did not like the ear hook Summary: 2 Stars
I've use these ear phones for over a week now and I'm extremely disappointed by the ear hook. The hook separates from the ear phone too easily. A few times, I've had to back track and look for the hook when I had to remove the phones from my ears, but did not have time to secure it in my jacket pocket or backpack. The other problem is the hook is plastic and not rounded so it hurts after a while. The hook should have been set with a round mold. The hook isn't flexible enough to assist in keeping a tight fit to seal out sound. I have to slightly tug and hold the cord to isolate outside sound and increase the bass. It also takes me a while to "hook" my ear and insert the buds in the canal.
The sound is pretty good.
Digital camera Review: Did not work for me, too big Summary: 1 Stars
I got these because my earphones always fall out when i do anything, not just while running on the treadmill at the gym. However, the over-the-ear holder thingie was too big for my ear and basically did nothing to hold the earphone in. Also, the earphone was too big for my ear and kept coming out. I guess i would prefer the more disk-shaped earphones as they stay in place better.
The main reason these didn't work for me is because i have super small ears. Im still looking for some good ones that will stay in place. As for these, which came red not pink, i gave them to my brother who ended up yanking off the holder thingie. I guess its on to the next ones for me.
