I am using this cable to attach a desktop computer to my standard definition TV with a VGA to S-video converter. I can stream YouTube, Netflix, hulu, etc with this arrangement. I have no complaints with the video signal, it has worked very well so far. I too, however, have noticed a hum in the audio signal. In my setup, I have been able to just about eliminate that hum by running a separate ground wire between the chassis of the computer and the chassis of my audio receiver. The only time that the hum is audible with the ground wire in place is when the volume is turned up very high and beyond normal levels for listening to a streamed program. I guess that the cable should have been shielded better and maybe the manufacturer will do that for future runs. Rather than a combined video/ audio cable, perhaps separate video & audio cables will overcome the hum.
