Digital camera reviews of Roku HD-XR PlayerDigital camera Review: Amazing little box! Summary: 5 Stars
We received this cute little device last week and have really enjoyed it. We have a wireless "N" router, BTW. Just add my voice to the Roku fans chorus. So simple to use - so much more convenient than the mailed DVDs from Netflix. If it's not instant play, I don't really want to mess with it anymore. How did we do without it before? I really love the screen with our queue and the ability to scroll through and read about the episodes before playing. The search feature is also wonderful. Can't think of anything I would change about this product.
Digital camera Review: An Outstanding Product Summary: 5 Stars
The ROKU (pronouced ROW-COO) is the most exciting product I've used in years, not because it dazzles, but because it's simple and it works as advertised.
If you like Netflix and watch a lot of TV series, I highly recommend this product as an alternative to receiving DVD's. Right now I'm watching "24" and "Rescue Me" all the way through and it's great. It's instant and inexpensive. I have to order "Sleeper Cell" on DVD and it's a hassle.
We also listen to Pandora all the time and it's great.
Go for the HD box, and if you need wireless connectivity, go for the HD-XR. I connected it with only the "G" wireless speed and it's working just fine. The HD-XR offers "N" capability which will be good when I upgrade my router, and may make a difference if someone in the house is downloading large files to a computer over the wireless network.
When compared to other products that stream Netflix, this one stands out as the clear winner. The menu system is clean, easy to understand and fast. The speed to play, an negative for the Samsung and other Blu-Ray players I have used, is outstanding and better than any other streaming product. The ROKU is WAY better.
I tried the Wii as a Netflix Instant player and the picture quality was, in a word, terrible. I have my Wii connected with the composite cables and it still disappointed.
Digital camera Review: An amazing device Summary: 5 Stars
I am told that the Roku device has only sold a couple of hundred thousand units. I am amazed, because this is one of the most functional and fun devices I have ever purchased. The reviews citing the ease of setup are all true. Plug it in, point it to your local network and it is up and running. You need to go to your computer to link the device to Neflix and other network sites. There are now a dozen new channels with free functions--for example, you can see all the pictures your friends have posted to facebook, and upload and view your own home movies. Everyone should own this great piece of equipment. The whole family will love it.
Digital camera Review: Another box in the living room Summary: 2 Stars
An OK internet app box. Don't expect anything more. It does NOT play your BT download content or anything like that. The remote is good, especially the bigger keys and simple layout. The app gets laggy from time to time.
Digital camera Review: Awesome Summary: 5 Stars
Bought it from Amazon, took it out of the box and was up and running inside of 5 minutes and I am not a technical person.
