Digital camera Review: Bought one for the bedroom too!
Summary: 5 Stars

Loved this roku so much, I got one for the bed room too! Only thing that roku needs to work one is adding more channels.

Digital camera Review: Box Re-Boots several times
Summary: 3 Stars

I purchased the XR Roku box from Amazon because I have a wireless N home WIFI system, which is secured and password protected. I had trouble getting the initial "handshake" with Netflix. It took me several hours over a couple of days to get the Netflix service to where it would run on the Roku box. When I try to watch Netflix, the Roku lets me go into Netflix and select my movie, but then does a re-boot. It goes through the whole sign-on procedure. The Roku shows my network identifier and my password as I go through the setup, so I don't have to enter data, but I still have to click through the steps. Once the movie gets going, I've only had a few of the freezes and they happened when I first got the Roku.

I've talked with a number of other folks who have the Roku Wireless G boxes and they are happy. I suspect there's a glitch somewhere in the new box that Roku hasn't figured out or hasn't fixed as yet....IMO

I use the radio stations on Roku a lot and really like that service. It lets me sort through programming, particularly on NPR to miss the junk and listen to what I like.

If I were doing it over, I'd buy a cheap netbook and use it as a dedicated entertainment computer. The queue in Roku for Netflix is awful. I use my desktop computer to put movies in the queue and just navigate to them on Roku. Before I bought the Roku box, I used my business laptop to run movies on our LED TV and it worked well, but it was a pain to set up as I had to use separate speakers. IMO, Roku, as it exists today, will go the way of TIVO.. just too clunky and limited. Just too hard to find what you want on the net.... and Netflix.

Digital camera Review: Bring content from the web to your TV for cheap!
Summary: 5 Stars

The Roku HD-XR Player is a great value. It comes with wireless and HDMI, two necessities for me in looking for a media player. I had been trying to find solutions that allow me to stream digital content from my PC for a while. I have tried to use the DirecTV built in features with media servers and all suffered from compatibility issues. With the Roku HD-XR Player I was able to use Chaneru to accomplish this seamlessly. Fast-forward, rewind, it all just works! On top of this there are a lot of channels available for users to use right out of the box. These channels can be organized well with the latest software update. Even better, there is now Hulu Plus support for the Roku!

This is a great value for someone looking to bring content from Hulu Plus, Netflix, Pandora, etc. to their television without breaking the bank!

Digital camera Review: Bring the internet to your TV
Summary: 5 Stars

I use my Roku everyday. I already had Netflix and loved the streaming abilities. What I hated was hooking my laptop up to the TV and booting it up each time, so I started watching less and less of Netflix streaming. With the Roku HD-XR it is so easy. The machine is always in standby mode so it is ready and waiting whenever you decide to watch something...just as easy as flipping the channel on a TV. Sometimes, I actually forget I'm not watching televised TV. Setup was extremely simple. It links to all of your online accounts such as Netflix, Amazon On Demand, Pandora, Flickr, MediaFly, and Revision3. The remote is super simple and the Roku can even be controlled by a programmable remote used to control all your other devices. Now, I find myself watching more online content than I did previously with my laptop. Since it has digital audio out capabilities, unlike my laptop, I can now have digital surround to go along with the crisp and clear picture from the Roku. I use wireless 802.11g to stream video from the internet through the Roku and I have not experienced any lag or buffering issues. The audio and video sync perfectly each time. I do hope they add support for Hulu, but for now it keeps me busy watching the other "channels" it offers.

Digital camera Review: Can't get it returned!
Summary: 1 Stars

I purchased the unit and decided, after I had received, that it was not what I wanted. I have been trying to get a return mailing label by email without any success. I have provided their company with all the information requested. If not returned within 30 days I will not be credited for this purchase. The days are ticking away and I am going to be stuck with a purchase I do not want. I am going to submit a billing dispute with my credit card company too. I feel like I've been duped. For those wanting to keep the unit, good for you. For those who don't beware!
