A small load needs to be applied to the battery to test it, this doesn't appear to have one. As an acid test I checked the 9V batteries that were making the smoke alarms low battery beep, all showed in the green.Digital camera Review: Cheap and effective

This did not work at all. Tried all types of batteries with the needle never moving. Then tried brand new batteries out of the box and the needle did nothing. This product did not work at all. Will return it tomorrow. If there is a problem returning it I will re-post.
