Well, 250GB is alot of space.
Fast (5400 rpm) and usb2 - which supports around 80mb/sec, i'm using it at my vmware virtual disk, and it's working pretty nice, the only prob that i got until now is copy a 5gb file from my laptop to the 250GB drive, my getting an error that i don't have enough free space , strange.
but for the price and the support from j&r, this is the best price value !

I have an iMac and at first it seemed like I wasn't going to be able to get it to work. I was looking for the setup files in which were all for PCs. Ofcourse, the Mac made things to easy and the Hard Drive just worked upon plugin. So far no troubles and does everything I expected it to.Digital camera Review: Easy to use

I had no problems using this product. I worked immediately upon plugging it into my computer without having to download any of the software.
***I say this with a HUGE sigh of relief after the frustration of dealing with the Western Digital WDG1C5000N My Book Premium Edition 500 GB USB 2.0/Firewire External Hard Drive by Western Digital, which I returned within 2 days of receiving. It didn't even back up a 1/4 of my data before it started crashing randomly (disconnecting from the computer on its own). Don't buy a My Book!***
I have to say that I had doubts that the Western Digital Passport (250 GB) would work since I had so many problems with the My Book. Thankfully I had none of the problems that I had with the My Book. It won't work thru my UBS hub but other than that (very small) issue I'm happy. At least so far.

Bought this drive primarily to backup my MacBook Pro using Time Machine. As with all hard drives, keep in mind that it's sold as a 250GB drive, but the actual drive capacity is 232GB.
I wiped the drive clean and partitioned it -- 200GB for Time Machine use on my Mac and 32GB for storage use on a PC and Mac.
Power isn't an issue on my MBP, the WD Passport operates whether my Mac is plugged in to a power source or running on the battery. Only wish the USB cord was longer.
It comes with WD Passport Software (Windows only) installed on the drive, but I'd highly recommend not installing it or using it especially since it's the drive is PnP and the software (as reported elsewhere) makes the loading time slower.
