Digital camera reviews of Sabrent SBT-USC6M Hi-Speed USB 2.0 to Serial (9-pin) DB-9 RS-232 Adapter Cable (BLUE)Digital camera Review: Shoddy product Summary: 1 Stars
I give this product 1 star for the following reasons:
* Driver CD was updated in 2003, 5 years ago. The included drivers don't even work with Windows XP, let alone Vista.
* No URL for the web site to download newer drivers. If you look on the CD to find the manufacturer (it's not on the packaging), then do a Google search, you can find some newer drivers to download and install.
* Once newer drivers are installed, the device is identified correctly. However, it still failed to work for my uses, b/c the serial software I was using needed to be able to query the serial port for a Baud rate (pretty standard requirement for serial communications), and the cable or driver doesn't support that. I realize this product may work for other uses, but it didn't for mine.
I've used a different USB to Serial cable for the same use, and it worked fine - my advice is to spend the money on a better one from a reputable manufacturer.
I was eventually able to solve my problem another way without using this product; fortunately TigerDirect was courteous and helpful when returning it.
Digital camera Review: Vista 64 bit BEWARE Summary: 1 Stars
Although the product description on Amazon claims this product is compliant with Windows Vista, the packaging doesn't. The drivers included on the disk do not work with Windows Vista 64 bit. I downloaded the 64 bit driver from the Sabrent web site, but it still does not work because it does not have a valid digital signature. I e-mailed Sabrent, and received an immediate reply that I needed to use F8, which disables the digital signature requirement for Windows at start up. I discovered plenty about that workaround on the Web, but I don't want to have to do it every time I start up, or install another third-party boot-up disabler, or any of the other myriad of workarounds people suggest. The product description should clearly indicate that there is no digital signature for the Windows 64-bit driver (and it's not included on the disk), and it won't work for people who are not willing to disable that feature of Vista. I e-mailed Sabrent asking why their driver does not have a digital signature and have not received a reply. I'm returning the product to Amazon. Caveat emptor.

Digital camera Review: Worked on my mac book pro OSX 10.6 Summary: 4 Stars
Worked on my mac book pro OSX 10.6
Skipped the drivers on the disk and downloaded them from the manufacture's website. The adapter shows up as a modem on my mac. Launched Z-term and told it to use the new usbmodem - bingo in business. Working away via my serial connection without an issue. Enjoy!
Digital camera Review: Works for me on Mac Summary: 5 Stars
Having bought this product, I plugged one end into my device (my Gps) and the usb port into my macbook. It worked! I haven't any problems thus far.
