Digital camera reviews of Saitek Pro flight Rudder Pedals

Digital camera Review: Great, but use extreme care.
Summary: 4 Stars

After learning the "hard" way, the Rudder Pedals work Great! First (and very importantly) do NOT try to assign any functions to the pedals using your feet! After plugging in the USB connection put them on a flat surface and use your hands when moving the pedals to assign the right and left "Differential Brake" functions, then again using your hands, assign the "Rudder Axis" function.
Secondly, do not get overly exuburent when imputing the right or left "Rudder", if you hit the stops "firmly" the pedals will LOCK-UP! You will then have to remove 20 screws, and carefully re-align the pedals so they "unlock", then have to reinstall the 20 screws! Trust me, I've done it three times (greatly increasing my "expletive deleted" vocabulary in the process!) In spite of the above, they work well. I am a retired corporate pilot and use my flight sim to practice instrument procedures.

Digital camera Review: Saitek Pro flight Rudder Pedals
Summary: 2 Stars

The Saitek Pro flight Rudder Pedals are a great addition to my Flight Simulator X setup when they are working but the rudder pedals constantly get stuck in the full right position. I have to remove all the screws and take the rudders pedals apart to unstick the pedals. This is extremely frustating and time consuming. I would probably purchase my next set of rudder pedals from another company. They get stuck so often that I just stopped using them. They are just an expensive paper weight and foot rest for now, aleast until I take them apart again.

Digital camera Review: so far so good
Summary: 4 Stars

I've had the Saitek Pro Flight Rudder Pedals for about a month and am pleased with them...so far. They are big and heavy which is probably good, as long as you have the space for them. I have to get a new table for my Saitek X52 stick and throttle because my old one is now about 6 inches too short and there is not enough room for my knees. So plan ahead. If you are at all physically impaired (like me) you may have a problem finding a comfortable sitting position for those long flights because the top of the pedals is so far off the floor.

As for the functionality of the rudder pedals. I am in the Pilot Career mode of Pacific Fighters, flying the Wildcat F4F FM2 off, and back on, the deck. The rudder pedals make all the difference in the world in regard to aircraft control. I used the "twist action" of the stick for about 5 years prior to getting the rudder pedals...no comparison. I flew a REAL SNJ Texan a few months ago...rudder pedals are the ONLY way to go.

Setup of the rudder pedals was a snap on my PC with XP. The wheel brakes take a little getting used to but it beats hitting a button.

I think the rudder pedals are worth what I paid for them on Amazon. However, I'll bet I break them sometime during the 2 year Saitek warranty. They just don't seem to be constucted heavily enough to hold up for long under heavy use...which is what I give them.

Digital camera Review: Amazing Pedals
Summary: 5 Stars

Well, these pedals, are just great for the games. They just fit on your feet, you can change the sizes, it has a sensibility controller. The product is just amazing. Coming with the Saitek Software CD makes a great experience.

Digital camera Review: Good but flimsy
Summary: 4 Stars

This is my first rudder pedal, I bought it to use with MSFSX. The three axes (rudder, left and right brakes) gives you good enough response and sensitivity. The feeling and design are nice as well, since you can keep your feet comfortably spread and in a reasonably angle. Another interesting feature is the knob for tension adjustment. On the other hand, the hardware is very, very, very flimsy. Just to give an idea, I am afraid to use it with shoes, so I generally use it bare foot. Moreover, due to its light weight, it is hard to keep it steady on the floor without using the velcro strips provided. What I have been doing is to lean it against my table's bottom support, otherwise it would slide away. I personally think this kind of control (for feet) should have metal parts to make it studier and heavier, instead of just using plastic material. It generally conveys an impression of being much more like a kid toy than an adult control device. In the end, since I do not know a better option, at least for this price range, I would recommend it, provided it is used carefully and you do not mind to pay for something fragile.
