Crisp and sensual quality.

not only does the image quality look nice, but the device itself looks beautiful. Perfect addition to a home theater setup!

Digital camera Review: Bought this player as a gift
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought this player as a gift for my mother. She said it worked well and the picture is great on her 46" Samsung LCD. She also likes that it works with the tv. You put in a dvd and it turns on the tv even. The only thing she has found wrong is she was watching a blu ray dvd and it worked fine. Then the 2nd time it kept stopping in one place. Not sure why. Then she had a home made dvd and it also worked fine. Then when she went to show it to someone else, it also stopped in a certain place and wouldn't go any further. She put it in a new upconverting Toshiba dvd player she bought and it went though without a hitch. So there are some glitches. It was a good price and it can be updated. I told her to check on the firmware as an update might help. I am probably going to buy one of these myself. I was buying the 2500 series but I found out that in order to get Netflix you had to plug in a network cable. It doesn't even have built in WIFI. For around 100.00 more or so, it isn't worth the difference. You can buy this player and a ROKU (think it is called) box and get Netflix streaming with probably a better setup.

Digital camera Review: Brand new and nonfunctional
Summary: 1 Stars

My new BD-P1500 was nonfunctional: it couldn't be recognized by my new Samsung Series 5 550 plasma HDTV. It could be opened with the remote--but the disc drawer would not close, either with the remote or the button on the front. It would not load any disc. I can only assume that it was poor quality control at the factory.
So much for a "Blu-ray Christmas. . ." What a disappointment. Samsung products are usually much better than this.

Digital camera Review: Broke quickly
Summary: 2 Stars

The Samsung is a good-looking blu-ray player and it displayed 1080p with a brilliant picture. However, I only got to see 15 movies before it broke. It suddenly stopped out-putting sound. I bought a new HDMI cable, tried component, updated firmware - no luck, no sound no matter what I did. Samsung was extremely unhelpful when I contacted them, except to tell me that it was a problem with their player and to send it back to them (at my expense) and they would fix it - but never sent me the shipping label. Thank goodness for Amazon, who will give me a refund. I don't know why the sound failed after 15 plays- maybe I just got a defective one - but I don't want to try Samsung again. It gets two stars - one for looks, one for beautiful picture. It was a nice budget player - while it lasted.

Digital camera Review: Broke within a year
Summary: 1 Stars

I've had this player for less than a year and it stopped reading discs (blue-ray & DVD). I sent it back to Samsung who said the parts are under the manufacturer's warranty but the labor, which will cost $165, is not. Needless to say, I will be purchasing an LG player. Very disappointed. Also, be forewarned that my brother recently bought a different model Samsung Blue-ray and had a poor experience when it completely stopped working after a firmware update. Just don't buy from Samsung until they produce a good product.
