Digital camera Review: AVOID THIS BLU RAY 'PLAYER'
Summary: 1 Stars

First one I received was dead out of the box. Second worked wonderfully for five months. The picture and sound was and is amazing for Blu Ray and DVD. Then, it stopped reading DVD's once in a while. After that, it just got worse. After two weeks, it will read maybe one in fifty tries (just went two days without it reading any DVD's at all). Now, it is happening with Blue Ray. The ones I own are fine, but the one's I rent work only 40% of the time. Of course, the parts warranty is for three months, customer service can't help (what can they do when they know it's a piece of garbage?). I just ended up buying an upconverting DVD player since it was cheaper than trying to get this thing fixed. Avoid at all costs.

Digital camera Review: AWESOME BLURAY PLAYER!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

This is an excellent bluray player. I must say that the picture quality is just amazing. At first I was worried about getting the Samsung BD-P1500 bluray player because a lot of reviews complained that it freezes, skips chapters, or stops accepting discs. I've had mines for almost two weeks and haven't experienced a single problem at all, and I didn't even have to update it with the firmware. All the movies I played on it work perfectly and the dvd 1080p upscaling is excellent. All my dvds look fantastic and have better picture quality than before. Setup was a breeze; I connected this bluray player via 1.3 hdmi cable to my Samsung LN46a650 LCD tv. I watched Planet Earth Bluray and I was just blown away! The picture was so mesmerizing and just beautiful. This bluray player is definitely a winner. Overall I'm extremely happy with this bluray player!

Digital camera Review: About 20% failure rate on the ethernet card
Summary: 2 Stars

I bought one of these as my introduction to blu-ray. I set it up, very easy. Turned it on and it had a firmware update, which i expected. So I started to download it. It was super slow. So I came back to it an hour or so later and it was off, which is what it is supposed to do after an update. I turn it on, pop in a blu ray and try to get on bdlive, as that is the point of a 2.0 player. "Can't connect to internet." Well after one the phone with customer support, and trying a myriad of things on my own, I started looking around the internet. These things get horrid ratings from professional reviewers. There are forums full of people who have ethernet card failures (meaing it will never again connect to the internet). Samsumg is very unhelpful in the matter on this particular model. Its like they know its bad, but dont want to admit it.

They have fixed the problems with the BD-P1600 model, also adding wireless lan, netflix and pandora streaming, and some sound enhancements. I went out an purchased the Samsung HT-BD1250 (2.0 player with a surround sound system and so far it is spectacular.)

So if your not into the bdlive content, I guess this would be a good player, as long as if you want to watch new movies, you download the fireware updates on your computer and then transfer them to your player (cd/dvd or usb drive).
