Digital camera Review: Be very weary

I purchased this blue ray player for my son for christmas. Today is the first of February and it has stopped working. It reads the disk, but doesn't put out a video signal. Of course, there is no returning it and I'm out a sizable amount of money for a useless machine. I can understand amazon having a 30 day return policy for some things, but for an expensive electronic piece of equipment, there should be an extention. I'm very disappointed. I had this product for a total of 6 days. The very first day, right out of the box I had problems with lack of audio when using the HDMI hook-up. I thought maybe it was a bad DVD, because I didn't seem to have the same trouble with Blu Ray. Every time I tried to use the player for a DVD, I wouldn't get audio, I would have to restart the player and try again.
On day six, I started having the same trouble with Blu Ray discs. I checked for a firmware update online, and I found and installed one. This just seemed to make the player run even slower and did NOT fix the issue. I returned the player to the store, and exchanged it for a Sony. So far, so good.
I would recommend NOT purchasing this player. It was more trouble than it was worth.
EDIT:
The Sony player that I purchased was also returned after 5 weeks. It stop recognizing discs, Blu Ray and DVD. My next purchase will be a Playstation 3. I will review that as well, after I put it to the test.

I purchased this item in April 2008 , and have had zero issues with it. It plays all DVDs and Blu Rays I throw at it without any problems.
I have updated the firmware to enable the BD LIVE and it works GREAT! What a steal for its current price - I paid almost twice as much when I picked up mine!
Two important notes:
1. To enable BD Live and to use it you must plug in a 1 GB or higher USB Flash drive into the unit and LEAVE IT IN to use BD-Live functions.
2. HDMI users: I stream the HD codecs to my Onkyo 805 through HDMI - works without a hitch and sounds incredible BUT know that HDMI has a limitation that it can only stream one HD audio stream at a time. So, with this unit, you must change its audio out away from Bitstream Audiophile, and put it at one of the other settings to hear both audio streams with Bonusview picture in picture commentaries (such as on the Chris Nolan Batman movies and V for Vendetta). When you watch the movie on its own , simply switch back to Audiophile.

I was hesitant to buy a Blu-Ray player, but in order to get everything out of my 1080P TV, I figured I should get one. I already had a Samsung TV and DVD Recorder, which I was very pleased with, so I opted for this Sumsung BD-P1500. Shipped very fast and when I hooked it up, I was not disappointed. Amazing picture and sound. I recommend getting the Optical audio cable, if you want the full experience (Unless you have HDMI inputs on your receiver, then you won't need it). I would also recommend checking and upgrading the firmware, before playing your first movie. If you don't do it right away, you'll forget then be frustrated when you get a new disc that won't play. Updating the firmware was very easy, all you need is a thumb drive.Digital camera Review: Best in its price range

This player is great for the money. It is upgradeable to Profile 2.0, has fast load times, and good picture quality. Many of the earlier Samsung BD players were notoriously bad, but the general consensus seems to be that the BDP1500 is a huge improvement.
In the 175-200 price range the BDP1500 is one of the best. Sure you can step up to the Sony S350 or the Panasonic 35k and probably get a slightly better player, but if you want a good player for a lower price, this Samsung is a good option.
