Digital camera Review: 9 months and its broken...

I bought a BDP-2500 nine months ago and all of a sudden it stopped working. I tried to power it off and on, create a firmware disk to reset the system, etc. and nothing worked. It stopped playing blu-ray disks, DVD disks, and would not respond to the remote (except on/off, open/close tray).
On top of this, a relative of mine bought the same player and it stopped working after a few weeks of operation. To get the disk out of the player, the Geek Squad (Best Buy) had to dissassemble the unit.
So from my personal experience I can say -- two Samsung players purchased and neither worked (2 for 2 failed).
I would not recommend this player to anyone for this reason. When the player worked, it performed really well -- great picture and sound. But can you risk to lose $300 on a purchase like this in less than a year?
I find Amazon reviews useful for my purchases and I wish you good luck with your Blu-ray shopping.

I think my Online search really paid off, and I am proud of the 'homework' I did. I have been following the 'bluRay' tech for quite
sometimes and the different players from Sony, Samsung, Panasonics etc.
(visited electronic stores merchants and Online sites too). My final
decision was indeed an easy one as I have the 'perfect match' ( the Samsung LN 46 A950 and the Samsung BD2500.)Not forgeting the better deal, order process, and delivery made possible by Amazon where Reviews
of the other Players were available too. To date I can't still get over
how much I am enjoying this new Tech!(View the'Planet Earth' with this player, what an 'Amazing Education' deligh !
Digital camera Review: A nice mid-range Blu-ray player

After looking at Blu-ray players from Sharp, Panasonic, LG, and Sony, I finally decided on the Samsung BD-P2500. Some of the features that influenced my decision are the Profile 2.0 support and the internal audio decoding.
It takes a minute for the unit to boot up when you power it on, but after that playing movies is a breeze.
Picture quality on Blu-ray discs is excellent for 1080p TVs. Colors are nice and vibrant, but not oversaturated.
It also does a decent job of upscaling standard DVDs. This works best for progressive DVDs (mostly movies) if you have any DVDs of TV shows that are interlaced, you'll notice jagged edges when they are upscaled.
One thing I don't like is the picture search. When you pause the video you can only advance frame by frame forward, but not backward. If you pass the frame you're looking for you have to press play then seek backwards and pause then advance frame by frame back up to it.
The built-in audio decoding is nice for my older 5.1 receiver.
I upgrade the firmware by downloading it from Samsung's website and putting it on a USB flash drive.
Like most Blu-ray players, this unit has a cooling fan but it's not loud. Make sure the back of your cabinet is open so it will get enough ventilation and make sure you keep dust off it.

I have been watching blu-ray with this player on my Vizio LCD TV and I can not say enough about how great this Samsung unit is! Everything is so much sharper! Only thing that makes me sad is thinking about if I want to convert my entire DVD library over to Blu-ray discs!
