Digital camera reviews of Samsung BD-P2500 1080p Blu-ray Disc PlayerDigital camera Review: Component Video Problem Summary: 1 Stars
We received the Samsung BD-P2500 yesterday. Installed the firmware updates. Tried to play the Blu-Ray with component video cables but monitor had fifties era diagonal lines. (The component cables worked on another DVD player.) Composite video worked, but why use a lesser video quality on a blu-ray. We reset the player per the instructions. No joy. Tried to contact Samsung customer service. Not able to get a person. Read the online trouble-shooting guide. No help. Re-installed firmware again. Still no joy. Read blogs and online reviews to try and find a solution. No help. I'm grateful for Amazon's return policy. Printed out the UPS return label and returned the unit. I'll just have to buy another device to play NetFlix on our TV.
Digital camera Review: Concerned at first, but now working Summary: 5 Stars
I was concerned at first. I kept getting a message that no signal could be detected. The picture would be okay and then it would disappear. I guess there was dust or something on the connection that was a problem, but it starting working and now I'm afraid to remove the connection since it's working fine now.
Digital camera Review: Connected with Dennon and bose acoustimas - excellent output Summary: 4 Stars
Now have spent around a month with this - connected the DVD to a Samsung LCD 46" Series 5, Denon AVR-1709 Receiver, Bose Acoustimas 16 setup. The positives :
- The DVD provides excellent clarity and picture quality
- Was very easy to set up once I had the other setup done for the hoime theater
- The connectivity to Netflix was again easy to set up and works great.
- Seamlessly plays - regular DVD, Audio and Mp3 CD's along with the Blue Ray ones.
Negatives :
- Takes a long time to boot up once you start
- Needs regular software version updates that take like forever - in a month I have had to run those twice now
- With the TV and DVD both from Samsung - the remotes behave kind of funny - when you want to switch off one - both get turned off etc.
All in all very happy with eh purchase - great sound though that more from the Home theater!
Digital camera Review: Cool Netflix capability, very slow load times, occasional lock-ups Summary: 3 Stars
The first standard SD DVD I tried to play on this didn't work until I updated the firmware using the USB method. After that, every DVD has worked fine and the SD up-conversion is really nice.
I connected the player to my home wifi network, and the player configured itself and I was on Netflix immediately (you must dothe firmware update first). I'm really surprised at the Netflix SD and HD performance - much better than my computer - videos look great and no hang-ups.
One problem I have is that the player occasionally seems to get hung up while trying to access the player (not DVD) menu - I got a green screen. It's only happened twice so far, but it's still irritating. Turning the player off and back on (with the accompanying very slow loading start up time) has fixed it.
Overall, great video quality, but sketchy operation. I think I'd spring for an extended warranty for this player if I had the option - it just seems like the technology is great, but the engineering isn't.
Also, the player looks really nice and works perfectly with my Samsung HDTV.
Digital camera Review: Could not be more pleased Summary: 5 Stars
Replaced a second gen Toshiba HD DVD player with this Samsung. Load times are better, easy firmware upgrade via ethernet, Reon chip makes for excellent upscaling of standard def . .and the main reason I purchased- the Netflix streaming. it works perfectly and i can't imagine not having it. Buy it.
