Digital camera reviews of Samsung DVD-1080P7 Up-Converting 1080p DVD Player

Digital camera Review: GREAT DVD PLAYER
Summary: 5 Stars

Hello: I bought this to play my DVD's on my New HDTV-
Also purchased from Amazon- "Samsung LNT4065F 40" 1080p LCD HDTV" (See My REVIEW) of the TV- AWESOME!!
This DVD player plays all my DVD's (Upconverting) them to awesome quality! It is easy to use-- I love that it is also Samsung -- like my TV- and it works GREAT!
It's price was very affordable too- Cant beat it! Amazon did free shipping- WOW- what more can you ask for! I purchased these "WireLogic HDTV Hook-Up Kit for Tabletop TVs and Entertainment Centers " also from Amazon to do the hook ups to my new TV-
The pack came with everything I needed and great instructions! Good Luck on your buy! This is a KEEPER!

Digital camera Review: GREAT DVD PLAYER for the Price. Up-Conversion works very nice. CHEAP!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

For the price this is an AWESOME DVD Player. The up-conversion works as advertised as long as you use the required HDMI cable for the High Def.

Some people complain that they are not getting any better picture than with a normal DVD Player. REMEMBER that you need a HDMI cable to get the better quality picture. It even states this in the instructions. This DVD Player is so inexpensive that it does everything and more for an $89 player.

When paired with a Samsung TV such as the LN-T4042H (My recommendation), you can put a DVD in the player and it will automatically turn on the TV, adjust to the correct resolution and start playing. it's almost like it's alive :)

No complaints for an $89 player that does almost everything except recording.

Digital camera Review: Good DVD player with a few issues
Summary: 4 Stars

We purchased this DVD player about a month ago (2/2008) to replace a previous generation Samsung DVD player. It is connected to our Samsung TV via HDMI. The player itself works great and the up-conversion is nice.
Samsung stumbled on the remote layout, but that's minor (previous generation remote layout made more sense and was less cumbersome).
The biggest beef is the power switch on the front of the player. When the player is "OFF" there is a barely noticeable red standby light, but when the player is "ON", there is a BRIGHT blue light surrounding the button. This is very annoying in a dark room while watching a movie so the player had to be moved to a non-visible spot (stored behind a closed door - have to do some maneuvering to pause movies...). It may just be my player because the previous gen player had the blue light when the player was off, but when powered on, the light was gone. TV is the same way (no blue light around power button when on)
All in all, a good player that we hope to have for a few years while we wait for Blu-Ray prices to drop.

Digital camera Review: Good HDMI DVD, Bad tray
Summary: 3 Stars

I like the interface, picture quality, the remote control it's huge (wish it was like apple remote). I give 3 stars due the tray system (it doesn't close fully now, after a week of purchase I rather the slotting style as Macs do.

Digital camera Review: Good buy for the money
Summary: 4 Stars

I was able to purchase this model for $20 less through a competitor's website, and for the price I paid, it is worth it. I have a Toshiba 720p 42" plasma, and have the DVD player connected through the HDMI cable. The first DVD I tried was "The Incredibles" and it looked amazing. I have the player set to output at 720p, and there is no graininess or anything like that. I haven't experienced any "slow to respond remote control to player" problems like other people say they have. Overall, for the money I paid, this was a great deal.
