Digital camera Review: Never has worked quite right, perhaps it's a lemon!

I have had similar problems to the guy who wrote about his before me, except I have not called customer service yet, or even tried to send it back. The unit worked fine at first, and then started to have this problem: kept showing me a menu that said it could not play the DVD...this was any DVD I happened to put into it. It had played them before fine and they all are pristine, no scratches or dirt. Ok, so I unplugged/replugged in the unit and for a time that seemed to reset it; then it played again; well, for awhile... Now I am back to home base; the thing just won't play, either says 'no disc' or the same dark blue menu appears on the screen saying 'cannot play this disc, please check disc'...the unit is not even a year old. I totally regret buying this player. I have a Samsung TV and I love it; thought they would interface perfectly, but I was wrong. I also have a Sony Region 2 player and wish I has bought a Sony Region 1, instead of this piece of junk; my Region 2 plays like a dream, never a problem. Reading the above account of sending it for repairs or replacement, is quite discouraging. I was seriously considering doing so, or just packing it up and taking to the store and demanding my money or even a credit. I bought it on a credit card so someone told me you can demand the store take it back.
Now, just curious to know how the other two posters on here ended up with a good unit. I guess maybe I just got a lemon!

The DVD player works well and seems of excellent quality. Pllaying DVDj's andd VCR's are bouth very good. However I did not understand that I would not be able to record programs on the VCR because of it not having a tuner and my not having a cable box, or whatever. It might be helpful to have more information for those of us who are technologically challenged. I kept it because for the most part is it serving its purpose.Digital camera Review: Not built to last

This is the first of this type device that didn't last but just over a year. Very poor return on investment. The DVD would usually kick it out with message "cannot play disc, please remove." So I bought this to give the Playstation 2 a rest from playing DVDs but at least that always played them. I would not recommend this to anyone if you want one that lasts and plays DVDs for you. It now has completely stopped working, I think I bought this in January of 2007. Wow bummer.Digital camera Review: Player only!

I needed a combo player specifically to copy my VHS tapes to DVD's. I'm pretty unfamiliar with this stuff so I researched carefully. I even went so far as to call Samsung's tech line to verify that this unit would do what I wanted. I was told that I couldn't dub from the VCR to the DVD but I could record from my old VCR to a -R or -RW disk.
Imagine my surprise when I got the unit and found that the DVD is a PLAYER ONLY! I also found only one mention of this fact in all the instructions they sent with the unit and this was a passing reference.
This may be one of the best combo units made but for me it's a zero star item.
