The Samsung LN40A550 40-inch 1080p LCD HDTV is a great product. The picture is stunning, even not in HD. I would not buy a tv online except from Amazon. Great price and free shipping. We were very happy with the delivery and the delivery person, too. He got it out of the box and set it up for us. He did not leave until after he saw it was working. So much easier than getting tv locally and lugging it home. Only thing confusing was whether there was a remote with the set, or if you had to buy one to go with it. Took a chance not ordering one, and a remote did arrive with it.Digital camera Review: Almost excellent

The Samsung LN40A550 40-inch 1080p LCD HDTV is everything we wanted in a TV. I did some research on Samsung products before we made the purchace and Samsung has pioneered a lot of electronics. I have never bought Samsung before and my research made me more comfortable with their products. It was easy to set up with our DVD and VCR. The picture is very good and we didn't have to adjust colors or any other fine adjustments. The sound quality was very good and with lots of room for expansion. The menu for the setup was easy to understand and straight forward. We would buy Samsung again.Digital camera Review: Almost perfect

After our 8 year old, 32" tube TV bit the dust; I researched for a month before buying the "Samsung LN40A550".
The shipping was quick enough, the savings over buying from a retail store were significant, and the delivery as good as advertised. We are more than happy with our choice and recommend it highly. I also suggest using a HDMI cable hookup.
The only shortcoming of this unit is the 60MHZ, as you do see some "slur" in fast paced action/sports programs. But the picture, sound, remote and set-up are excellent.

We have had our Samsung 40" for a little over a month now, and we love it!! I just don't know where to begin in writing this...If you've read other reviews, there simply isn't much more that I can add. It's an awesome TV, the picture will blow you away if you're switching over from STV, an excellent value compared to other models, and I think the fact that Consumer Reports rated it so highly says it all. I am a value oriented buyer, so a 1080P Samsung 40" LCD HDTV for $1179 was a pretty good deal. Best Buy, Circuit City and Fry's price was about $1599 to $1699. There was no tax to pay and Amazon offered free white glove delivery. What could be better than that. It took about a week for the TV to arrive. The freight company called to set up a delivery appointment. They showed up, carried the box inside, installed the TV, did the basic set up (connect the HD antenna, the DVD player, scan the HD channels), asked me to inspect the TV and then I signed to accept the delivery. Can't get that kind of service with BB or CC.
Now to the HDTV. I use the default settings. HD channels are crystal clear, it's a pleasure to watch the news and the Lakers games. With a dynamic contrast ratio of 30000:1, the picture is bright. I connect my up converting DVD player, pop in the movie CARS and my son couldn't take his eyes of the screen. I am sure a blu-ray DVD player will give a perfect picture but at $400 I think it is still too expensive.
So far the Samsung LN40A550 is excellent.
