Digital camera reviews of Samsung LN52A650 52-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LCD HDTV with Red Touch of Color

Digital camera Review: #1 Consumer Reports, #1on Amazon.com!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

Okay, simply put... this is the one to get. Yes, its not the cheapest TV available, but its by far not the most expensive either. It IS by far the #1 value television out there. (It has over 700 reviews and still has a full 5 star rating!)

PROs:
120hz refresh rate makes even old reruns look amazing/smooth. HD looks ridiculously good on this TV... Sharpness cannot be beat. Vibrant, balanced, beautiful colors (out of the box, no fine tuning required!), BLACK blacks-the contrast ratio is amazing on this model. Menu system is user-friendly and looks good as well.

CONs:
As with every LCD/Plasma, standard definition cable "noise" is slightly annoying, but the 120hz refresh helps to still make a great picture. Also, when naming separate inputs, you must choose from a strange list of preset names... Unless I haven't found it, you cannot name the inputs whatever you'd like... this is strange since you CAN name channels whatever you want.

Bottom line: Your search is over. Amazon has the best price online, and most all the time free delivery and install (power up test only).

Digital camera Review: (updated) Thoughts After 1 Year of Use
Summary: 5 Stars

When I purchased this TV from Amazon.com I had already decided on this Samsung 52" series and was trying to decide between the 650 and the 750. At the time there was a small price difference between the two on Amazon.com. I ended up choosing the 650 because I was placing the TV inside a nook that had limited space.

The 650 has a less bulky frame around the LCD screen and therefore it was only 50.2 inches wide as compared to the 750 which is 52" wide. Both screens have the exact same visual display area. Beyond trying to accommodate my limited space, I felt that the smaller frame looked nicer on the TV than the larger frame.

The other reason I chose the 650 is that it can swivel on the base, whereas the 750 is fixed on its base. Because I have placed the TV in a nook, this swivel feature has come in very handy as I have had to get behind it from time to time to plug in cords, etc.

I have read a lot about screen reflection and was bracing myself for a potentially unpleasant experience during daytime viewing, especially since the room the TV is in has windows all the way across two walls and is full of sunlight daily. I'm happy to report that screen reflection is absolutely no problem. The TV that I was replacing with the Samsung LCD was an older 32" Panasonic Panablack analog TV with the glass screen, which had a lot of reflection. As a point of reference, the Samsung has about 20% of the screen reflection of my old TV (judging from when the TV is off). When the TV is on, the Samsung has about 5% of screen reflection compared with what I used to have with my old TV, which may be due to the incredible brightness of the display.

I spent a number of months on this decision and I feel like I hit a home run with this purchase. Samsung has certainly exceeded my expectations with this model and I have been very satisfied with my first experience of buying a TV online from Amazon.com.

DEC 20, 2008 UPDATE: I've now owned the TV for more than 6 months. No regrets. The TV has survived well in a family with 5 kids under age 10. It's taken some direct hits to the screen with toys thrown by a 2-year-old but any marks on the screen easily rubbed off. It still looks just like the day I first got it and runs perfectly. I'm very happy with this purchase.

JUNE 7, 2009 UPDATE: Still going strong after 1 year. Absolutely no problems with the TV. Best purchase I ever made. Everyone who has seen it can hardly believe the picture quality. I get positive comments all the time.

Samsung LN52A650 52-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LCD HDTV with Red Touch of Color
I bought this TV back in July of 2008 for $2000. I have to say that this TV has proven to be a great product that has kept pace with the 2010 LCD models. Other than the new 2 inch LED models coming out this TV has a great picture quality whem combined with a good HD source (PS3, HD Set-top-box). Obviously this model has been replaced by the 750 and even the LN52B650 but when doing a side by side comparison the picture appears just as good. Samsung has released new features to the newer models but most of them are either marketing gimmicks are can be done with external hardware like a PS3. My only issue with this TV was the speakers, prior to setting up my receiver/5.1 setup the audio was very weak. I felt I had to set the audio to 60+ (TV was in a large open room), this is a minor issue as I would imagine most people purchasing a TV of this price have matched it up with at least a HT in a box.

Digital camera Review: 1st purchase through Amazon

This is the first time i have purchased such a high dollar item via Amazon and the internet. Cudos all around. the TV arrived earlier than expected. The delivering company set it up for me and it works perfectly. A+

Digital camera Review: 2 years of TV research was worth it!
Summary: 5 Stars

As stated in the subject heading, I did research for over 2 years. I looked at every electronics store I could find, talked to sales associates, compared TV's like crazy, and ended up deciding to go with this Samsung. I am so glad that I did! In my opinion, the picture is as good, if not better, than Sony's. And this TV has consistently been cheaper than the comparable Sony.

I did most of my research at Best Buy and Circuit City, and ended up buying at Amazon for $2,044. I was nervous about the delivery, but it went well. I expected to have the delivery company call me during the week to schedule delivery. They actually called on a Friday and asked if they could deliver on Saturday or Sunday. I was out of town, so it didn't work out, but a nice gesture nonetheless. Overall though, the delivery people were nice. My only issue is that they did not remove the TV from the box like the white glove delivery description states they are supposed to. But no harm no foul. The TV was in perfect shape. If you're hoping to have delivery made on a weekend so you don't have to leave work, my suggestion would be to ask them if they can deliver on a weekend. They may be in your area on a weekend to make another delivery, so it's worth asking.

Now, back to the TV. The picture is second to none. I know some have complained about the sound, but it is not an issue with me. The only thing that annoys me is that the TV makes a sound when you turn it on and off. I need to read the manual to see if there is a way to turn it off. It's not that big of a big deal, but I have a sleeping baby not far away, so I always worry that it will wake her up. I'm sure it's all in my head though, because if the TV itself doesn't wake her, the sound probably won't either!

Lastly, I was astounded at how much bigger the TV was in my living room, compared to how it looked in the store. I couldn't believe it, but wasn't about to complain! In my opinion, you won't find a better 52" TV than this one. And Amazon was a great place to buy it. Low prices and good/free delivery - can't beat it!
