Digital camera reviews of Samsung LN52A850 52-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LCD HDTV with Red Touch of ColorDigital camera Review: Fantastic Summary: 5 Stars
This screen has exceeded our expectations. HD broadcasts make me wonder why anyone having one of these would ever go through the hassel of a live event. In fact my son commented that the only thing missing is the different smells you get during an event and the jostling around getting to and from your seat. Maybe this is an entrepreneurial opportunity for a furniture maker to add these real life effects to the virtual world? At this rate pretty soon we really will be riding around in the fancy carts like they did on the Axiom in "Meet the Robinsons"! Bottom line - we feel this is a great value in the amount of screen for the dollar.
Digital camera Review: For those who worry about returning a big ticket item Summary: 5 Stars
Hi - I recently purchased the LN52A850 from Amazon. I have researched lcd and plasma tv spec's until I was convinced which one was best for my viewing habits. It also helps that you have a brother who is the head of research and development for one of the largest medical equipment corporations in the world and has done extensive research and testing on many lcd/plasma screens. His recommendation was lcd over plasma and Samusung (650 and up) or Sony (XBR or Z).
I had my heart set on the Sony 46XBR6, but when I saw the LN52A850 side by side (at RC Willey's) I was sold on the Samsung unit. In fact I originally was going to go with a 46" screen, but when my wife saw the 52" screen she wasn't going to settle for a 46".
I was plesantly surprised to find the lowest price (Almost $800) on Amazon and with free shipping and up to 2 years to pay for it interest free. I ordered the tv and about a week later it arrived. Unfortunately, when the delivery company unpacked it, there was a large ugly crack in the upper right corner of the plastic frame. I immediately called Amazon and they sent out a replacement. They also let me keep the damaged tv until the new one arrived. This allowed me to configure the tv with my content provider and my home theater system. The replacement tv arrived in about a week and it is flawless.
The picture quality is simpily amazing. The picture is bright, the colors are deep and vibrant and the black is black. Even when the sun is out and there is heavy glare the picture is still visible. I have read in some earlier reviews that the sound from the tv is poor at best, but I did not find this to be accurate. The sound from the tv speakers is just as good as two channel stereo from my Sony A/V receiver and is as loud as I need it to be.
All in all I am very satisfied with performance of the Samsung LN52A850 and would recommend it. If your looking to purchase one of the very best lcd screens to view movies, sports or tv shows this tv will not disappoint. The Super Bowl was amazing in HD, I might never get up from the couch again.
Enjoy yours - Rick
Digital camera Review: Great Picture, extremely "tin" sound Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased the LN52A850 on 12/01 after one week of searching/reviewing every thing I could find on various Web sites. Now, before I start, you electronic young guys/ladies can delete or skip this review, but for those readers over fifty-five and not heavy into the electronic age, this is really a great TV. I agree the speakers on this really suck, but I added a Sony HT-CT100 Sound Bar. My living room combined with sun room is 25 x 23 and it will blast me out of the room at full volume. I also added a BD-P-1500 Blu-ray. What can I say, I have a excellant picture from the TV with great sound. It only took my wife and I 30 minutes to get us up and running. The cable supplier is Time Warner, so there are a lot of HD programs. I had a Sony HD 36" Wega, which this Samsung replaced. Picture is much, much, much better. So in summary, for someone with old eyes, old hearing, and not heavy into electronic gagets, this was a great buy and the right choice.Oh!, the white glove delivery was perfect and on time at my convience. Oh! I have no glare from the TV. We watched Narnia in Blu Ray the other day, in fact two times with the grandchildren. Picture quality on a scale of 1 to 10, it rated a 10+.
Digital camera Review: Great Purchase, Live's up to the hype! Summary: 5 Stars
My Wife and I weren't even planning to buy another TV yet. We just couldn't resist the price. It was unbelievably lower than local competitors (closest local was $600 more). Free shipping and no tax? Crazy, but great for us. The TV is fantastic. We haven't seen any clouding that was mentioned in other reviews. We must be the lucky ones. The color is miles better than the 46" Sharp Aquos we moved into the bedroom. The picture is crystal clear. We don't have bluray or HD yet, but even standard definition is super clean. We have an upscaling DVD player that makes things so clear they look fake. My only minor gripe was with the delivery/set-up. The guy that delivered didn't set it up as Amazon.com said. He opened the box and when my Wife asked about the set up, he said he didn't do that. I read they were supposed to set it up and turn it on to show you it worked. We had no problems doing it ourselves, it just not what we expected. Can't really complain when we didn't pay for shipping anyway. This was my first purchase with Amazon.com, but it won't be the last! Thanks!
Digital camera Review: Great TV Summary: 4 Stars
Great TV. My only complaint is that when there is no signal going to the TV, there seems to be a few faintly white sections of the screen. When signal is running to it, though, it's flawless.
