Digital camera Review: CAUTION: IR Interference with Satelite & Cable STBs
Summary: 3 Stars

There is clearly an IR interference problem emanating from the LN52A850S1F. This is a DESIGN PROBLEM and not a problem with my TV. It takes about 10 minutes after the TV is turned on for the Dish Network VIP722 DVR remote and other STBs' remotes to work. I have two remotes that came with the STB and a Sony RM-AV3000 which also will not work for about 10 minutes. It appears that many other owners are experiencing this problem. Otherwise I really like this TV, great picture, smart look, good sound, nice features. I do not want to return it, but will if Samsung cannot come up with a fix. For more on the problem check out:

Check this problem out BEFORE YOU BUY! Class Action anyone???

Digital camera Review: Clear vision HDTV which makes you see RED
Summary: 5 Stars

Samsung LN52A850 52-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV with RED Touch of Color

This has to be one of the best buys of the season. The TV is HUGE and so thin for something so big. The screen is clear beyond imagination, especially watching HD channels on cable is a joy. The 120Hz refresh rate means that there is NO blurring with rapidly moving scenes, such as during football games, or watching the BBC's 'Planet Earth' large animal movement scenes.
The surround has a touch of RED to it, which is not significant to affect your decor, but is just about visible when the sun is shining on the TV

Downsides - well, the chimes it makes on start up and shut down, and the fact that the IR gets confused when the morning sun strikes the TV frames and renders the remote useless. However, even in bright sun, this TV shines and the image remains clear and bright.

Digital camera Review: Clouding did it!
Summary: 3 Stars

We got this TV for Christmas and enjoyed it for almost three weeks. I was very impressed with the features on this set - they threw in a kitchen sink! Awesome! Nothing is missing. Picture is excellent. 120Hz mode is just annoying and always seems to find its way to engage again. Speakers & sound are PATHETIC!!! Sound took a lot of tweaking and was just horrible. Shame shame shame! I had to keep the surround sound on all the time - I normally kick it on only for movies & video games. Ultimately, it was the clouding that sent this set back. I had it in two areas of the panel. Dark movie or game scenes watched at night showed all the flaws. Samsung took the 5th but offered repair service. I called Amazon and told them there is no way I'm repairing a brand new purchase. Amazon gave me superb customer service. As soon as I asked to initiate the return process, they gave me zero fuss and sent people to pick it up. The delivery guy that came to pick it up told me hes been picking a lot of 850 returns. He also brought me a 58" Panasonic (TH-58PZ800U) plasma as replacement. Couple hundred more bucks gave me full satisfaction.

Digital camera Review: Clouding issue on the 52" 850
Summary: 2 Stars

The TV was fine for a couple of days but then yesterday night, I started noticing patches of light on various parts of the display that looked like 'clouds'. It was very noticeable in low-light situations which unfortunately I am in most of the time when watching tv. In the day-time, this issue is less noticeable. I've since contacted both Amazon and Samsung to try to resolve this problem and Samsung is going to send a tech out to take a look at the set to see if they can fix the issue first. It seems like this issue is more of a problem on the 650/750 series from what I researched and this is the reason why I opted to spend more money for the 850 but it's disappointing to have to go through the hassle of either getting this fixed or trying to return the tv, all within a narrow time period. Check CNET-Samsung forums for other users that have the clouding issue.

Digital camera Review: Complete Satisfaction
Summary: 5 Stars

Amazon made it easy! Earlier than expected delivery, great price and the ease of set up made this purchase a pleasure. The TV has been working fine and the color and clarity are amazing.
