Digital camera reviews of Samsung LNT1953H 19-Inch LCD HDTVDigital camera Review: Nothing Very Special Summary: 3 StarsI've only owned this TV for a few days but I do have some first impressions.
First of all, I like the fact that it is very versatile. There are more than enough inputs/outputs to do everything that I would want to do with this TV.
While it does have a decent enough picture, the light bleed at the top of the screen is extremely annoying. Unfortunately, this wasn't visible in the store or I would have walked right by this set.
It also has less than great sound. I didn't expect much in the way of audio from a set like this, but it sounds something like a cheap transistor radio from the '50s.
Given that I use this set in my bedroom to mostly watch the news or an occasional late-night program, I can certainly live with its shortcomings.
I'm in the market for a much larger HDTV for my main HT setup and I'm having a hard time accepting that Samsung is supposed to be one of the "premium" brands. I'll be thinking (and looking) long and hard before buying another Samsung TV.
That said, I've already ruled out a Samsung LCD monitor for my PC after reading reviews that several models under consideration suffer from the same lightbleed issues as this TV.
Edited: Well, it's been a few weeks now so I thought I'd add a few comments.
1- I've now hooked the set up to an HD set top box so that I can view whatever my cable provider (Time Warner in NYC) transmits in HD. I've used a 1.3 compatible HDMI cable instead of regular coaxial so my signal should be the best possible.
2- Perhaps I'm missing something (and I don't claim to be an expert), but why am I getting resolution no higher than 480p? Is it based on what is being broadcast? I thought this set was capable of 720p and 1080i but that doesn't seem to be the case.
3- I've been able to tweak the sound a bit by going into the menu and adjusting the equalizer. It's not a major improvement, but it no longer sounds quite as tinny.
All in all, I have my doubts about buying another Samsung product if this is any example of their quality.
Digital camera Review: Samsung HDTV Summary: 4 StarsThe picture is very good with side angle view excellent. It does take much longer than comfortable to switch betweeen inputs and aquire the new signal. It is a little annoying. Otherwise it is a very good set.
Digital camera Review: Great little TV Summary: 4 StarsI purchased this TV after buying the 26 inch version. Both TV's have been great although with the smaller version it is not possible to turn off the little chirping sound when the TV goes on and off and the smaller one doesn't have PIP. This TV is extremely easy to set up and use. I only use the basic functions but they both have a lot to choose from. As some of the reviews have stated, the smaller TV does or can have a little strip of light at the top of the screen; I fixed this problem by changing the view size. Overall I have been very happy with these models of Samsung HDTV's.
Digital camera Review: Great TV Summary: 5 StarsWas looking at off brand TV's at this price. Glad I found a Samsung at the same price. TV works great, has a terrific picture and has turned my small extra room into one where the family spends much more time. Would recomend to anyone.
Digital camera Review: Excellent TV Summary: 5 StarsReceived this TV today, in white, for the kitchen. It is amazing for the price. It's perfect for the kitchen. So many features I didn't realize I would be getting. I put it on auto scan to pick out the channels and believe it or not -- I'm picking up channels that usually require a cable box. Also, this item arrived only 3 days after I ordered it. Thanks Amazon.
