Digital camera reviews of Samsung LNT4661F 46-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV

Digital camera Review: Best value
Summary: 5 Stars

This is my first "big screen" TV. I spent about a week looking for information. It was pretty clear that it received well above average reviews. I did a non-scientific, side-by-side comparison with a similar Sony and was not able to tell the difference. I was impressed with connectivity and, most important, the price.

I was impressed when set up at home. My main concern is the slow response speed to switching inputs. It is now part of my HTPC.

Digital camera Review: Better than Sony, trust me I've owned both
Summary: 5 Stars

NO MURA! NO CLOUDS! For those of us who have to suffer through clouds (white blotches on dark screens), this television is a joy. I went through two Sonys due to MURA, and it amazes me people will pay an additional $1000 for the luxurt of owning a Sony (that doesn't have better color reproduction in my opinion). The only con is the clicking noise in the back of the TV when you first turn it on, this isn't a defect but just a unit going through some sort of calibrating, but they should have mentioned it in the manual. Excellent blacks, on par with plasma screens, simple menus, good backlight settings, decent remote, excellent colors and amazing picture. Watch the Amazon price fluctuations which can vary $100 in a single day I've noticed. White glove service was excellent, I received the television in 6 days. Oh and matte screen is much better than glossy unless you can put the TV in a media room with NO windows, then the glossy screen will enhance the color saturation a bit more.

Digital camera Review: Beware of Quality Issues - Don't Ignore Rebooting TV
Summary: 2 Stars

I bought this set almost a year ago. It's my first HD set so I was really impressed by the picture quality. I love the swivel stand which makes it handy for reconnecting cables or moving around the room. My issue is with the general quality of this Samsung set. A couple of months after delivery, it started turning off then on by itself (no timer or accidental knocks). This happened intermittently with increasing frequency until it was a few times within the same week. Though not a big inconvenience at first, I ended up calling Samsung Support. It was fortunate that I did because the trouble quickly escalated and the video started shutting off on its own. In the process, the power supply and main boards were replaced twice. Then it was the inverter box. Finally the panel died and had to be replaced. Can I assume it's a new set now?? All these issues on a brand new Samsung less than 1 yr old! I bought this TV to replace my old Sony which lasted almost 20 yrs. So now with warranty running out, I'm nervously wondering how long before the next issue creeps up.. 2 stars because I do like the picture quality and I'm HOPING this is not a common experience with Samsung.

Digital camera Review: Bought One!
Summary: 4 Stars

I have owned this TV for 6 weeks. Right out of the box it was easy to set up. The only issue I had was not with the TV but with the cable company, comcast. I talked to one person and they said my signal wasn't strong enough to receive the HD signal. After following the dedicated line directly into the house and into the TV I determined that just wasn't possible. I called back and talked with someone else and they were able to reset everything and it works perfectly. I mainly watch sports on my TV and the resolution is incredible. Even my wife who didn't really support paying $2k for a TV is happy we made the purchase. The movies I have watched are good but I will say there is a little shadowing. I also looked at the 4665 thinking I wanted the better contrast ratio. However, after reading the reviews that the TV had a screen that could reflect light more I decided to go with the 4661 and I am very happy that I did. Once the TV was turned on and cable set up it has worked perfectly. I have no complains. The picture is very bright even in a light room, the picture is sharp and the sound is very good. I don't have a surround sound system yet but I am rethinking if I need one or not based on the sound coming from the TV. All in all I would buy this TV again.

Digital camera Review: Bright and full of features, source switching not great
Summary: 5 Stars

I was surprised this handled JPG and MP3 files so well. The WiseLink feature is a great way to show photos to family - and listen to an MP3 soundtrack while the slide show is rolling.

Colors are true and contrast is stunning. The built-in speakers are average - if you get a TV like this, you need to get some quality speakers.

My "big" complaint so far is how video sources are selected. It intelligently flips through the sources that are active but what about your universal remote? Harmony remotes cannot compensate for this unless you leave all your video components on ALL THE TIME, therefore, the video source selection will be the same each time. Samsung, are you listening? How about a firmware update for this?

Overall, it's a great HDTV and worth buying.
