I bought this to go with our Samsung NC 10 netbook since the later does not have a CD/DVD drive. Hooked it up and used two instructional CDs on it. It worked fine.
I like fact it can use power from NC10; no need for seperate power cord or battery.
Size is about as small as you can get given DVD size but still to large to carry around. The advantage of the NC10 is its small size for travel. But if you need a DVD player while traveling, you might as well get a laptop with installed DVD player.
No idea how it plays movies. I just bought it in case we need to upload something and/or use the recovery disk.

Lasted less than a month. Computer says it's there, it does not recognize any dvd's including it's own install cd-rom. Samsung does not even list it on it's own website, so there is no support. No samsung products for me.Digital camera Review: Easy to Use Out of the Box

This product works exactly as advertised, Plug and Play. Simply connect to the USB on your computer (Samsung NC10SE in my case) and you are off and running. The computer automatically recognizes the drive and installing software onto the netbook is a breeze.
My other comments: 1) the unit feels like thin tin 2) it is a little big (a slightly reduced size would have been appreciated and 3) the button to open the DVD drive could have been made more solid.
Finally, a comment on Amazon pricing. When I originally researched the drive it was selling for $69.99. It then went down to $66.49. I put it in my cart at that point but was still charged $69.99. This morning the price dropped to $55.85, a $14 difference in a few days. Amazon unlike other retailers does not offer a 30 day price guarantee which I think would be nice but demonstrate a customer centric philosphy.
