Digital camera Review: As Advertised...
Summary: 5 Stars

Great Description and Great Price led me to buy. I wasn't disappointed. Received after a few days.

Digital camera Review: BEWARE!
Summary: 2 Stars

I bought this drive, rather than the non-U3 version, for a very simple reason -- it was 25% cheaper. In my opinion, U3 is like killing a gnat with a nuclear device; it is completely unnecessary. Had the effort that has been put into U3 been put instead into simply getting app writers to make their apps run from a single directory, it would have acoomplished 99.9% of what U3 does. So you get a launch pad with U3 -- big deal. But if that's what you want, it's OK with me.

What is _not_ OK with me is any device that installs software on my computer without my permission. If I had been asked if I wanted U3 and had agreed to it, then anything U3 wanted to auto-start would have had my tacit approval. However, it never even occurred to me that SanDisk would stoop to the level of virus writers; I inserted this drive just as I had the previous 4 drives I owned, but this time, before I knew it, the obnoxious U3 splat screen covered up the app I was working with, taking the focus with it. Yes, I can remove U3 from the drive, but why should I have to? Why not make U3 optional? Place a U3 install on the key, and if I want it, I can install it; if I don't, I can delete the install and be done with it. The way the drive works now, if you try to simply remove the software without doing a complete U3 uninstall, it _will_ come back. And you'd better realize that very quickly, because when you uninstall U3, you lose everything on the drive.

As for the drive itself, I like the retractable tip way better than I do those caps with the tiny grippers that give out after about the 10th use. So far, after about 3 months of frequent use, I have had none of the problems with the latch giving out, but after reading other reviews, I am concerned about that. I also wish that the drive activity light was on the end, rather than on the side of the key; on my work machine, the light faces away from me, so I have to hold my hand up to it to see if it's lit.

If it hadn't been for the deceptive U3 install I probably would have given this drive 4 stars; instead, I've deducted 2 stars for U3's overbearing virus-like behavior. And I think I'm being very generous at that.

Digital camera Review: Broke already right after warranty expired

This is a cheap flimsy jump drive. I had Lexar 1 year before I bought this 2Gb Sandisk. I lost all my data. Lucky me, I have some old files that I can go back. The Ultra3 software is also annoying.

Digital camera Review: Buncha Crying Babies
Summary: 4 Stars

For those previous reviewers who are crying about the U3 software, here's a hanky for your tears. If you don't like the software that comes bundled w/ the flash drive you can easily uninstall the software and use it as a simple drive. By no means is the U3 invasive. I happen to like the software and the beauty of the auto launcher is you can configure what 3rd party apps to launch when inserted or stay in stand-by until you need it.

You can't beat this flash drive for the price and what this has to offer.

If you're going to cry about the U3 software then uninstall it. It's a no brainer.

Digital camera Review: Buy one that doesn't need a special driver
Summary: 1 Stars

This thin is ok, until you try to use it on another computer and need to install a driver. There is no obvious choice on the Scandisk support site.
