Digital camera reviews of SanDisk 2 GB Cruzer Titanium ( SDCZ7-2048-A10, Retail Package)

Digital camera Review: A good one for the keyring
Summary: 5 Stars

For a while now, I've wanted to upgrade my Lexar 1GB JumpDrive that I carry on my key ring. After looking around, there are not that many options for that purpose. Most of the drives have lose-able caps and that's something that I didn't want.

I've only had this drive for a week or so and it's exceeded my expectations. It's very sturdy (see the review re run over by a car) and it's really quite fast. I'd bought another 2GB stick from another merchant and this one is noticeably faster...and faster than my Lexar, too. When they offer the 4GB in the titanium, I'll buy that one to replace this one.

Pros:
Sturdy
Fast
Nice aesthetics

Cons:
Price vs. other 2GB sticks out there (but in this case, you get what you pay for).

Digital camera Review: A great drive... when it works. :(
Summary: 1 Stars

I bought one of these and it worked magnificently for a good 6 months before dying. Sandisk's technical support is awful. They told me I would receive an RMA email within 2 working days, but it took 7 days, 3 phone calls, and a fax to receive it. At least they paid for shipping back. It took 3 weeks to get the replacement.

The replacement drive died the exact same way after 9 days. The tech seemed skeptical about the fact that the drive had died of it's own accord after just 9 days. After going through the exact same tech support procedure I went through for the first drive, the skeptical tech asked me to take the drive to Radio Shack to have it tested there. Are they kidding? I didn't even buy the drive from Radio Shack. Radio Shack's just down the street, so I humored him anyway. The Radio Shack guys laughed because they couldn't do anything -- they aren't allowed to plug foreign USB keys into their computers. The guy inspected the USB pins and said they looked fine (I didn't expect otherwise, the drive had only been plugged in maybe 10 times total).

I called Sandisk back, and the tech support guy said the previous tech had written a note in their content management system saying he had told me to go Radio Shack to have the drive replaced. Replaced? I didn't even buy it there! After clarifying what I had actually been told to do, the tech insistently asked that I go through the entire testing procedure again, despite having just gone through it not half an hour earlier. Finally, they reluctantly submitted an RMA request.

I want to love this product because it seems solid and it works great when it works. But to have my second failure in 6 months is an unacceptable rate of failure, and Sandisk's technical support is horrid beyond belief.

Digital camera Review: A very solid thumb drive
Summary: 5 Stars

Although there's not much to say about any particular USB thumb drive, I can say that this one is my favorite so far. The titanium shell gives it a very durable feel. Some may complain about the slight heft to it, but I keep mine on my key chain so I want it to be able to take a beating. The fact that the need for a cap has been eliminated is a huge plus. I didn't care for the U3 feature so I removed it... no problems there.

Slightly off topic but relative to the manufacturer... I dropped my previous SanDisk drive into a river last year. It stayed submerged for at least 20 minutes before one of my buddies found it. It still worked when I got home that afternoon!

Bottom line, I love my 2GB Titanium SanDisk. Enough so that I bought a second one for my college-bound cousin.

Digital camera Review: A++
Summary: 5 Stars

I have this piece of perfection on my keychain. Once, I accidentally hit this thing with my golf club on a practice swing!!!

the little dinky key ring that connected my keys and this cruzer disappeared but this titanium cruzer remained intact 30 feet from contact zone. I believe this thing really is made out of titanium after that.

If you are thinking bout getting a flash thats gonna get throw regular wear and tear, this thing is the superman of flash drives.

GET IT!

Digital camera Review: Aaaaahhh! Whoo! Whoo!
Summary: 5 Stars

The Cruzer Titanium is simply the best. Nothing to install if you have XP and want to use it just as a mass storage drive. Installing the U3 and password software was a cinch. Good capacity, but, of course, you can really never have enough. Virtually indestructable. Cnet reviews were right: It is spectacular.
